Sorry guys, no joy here. Of course I don't have any yet, but this was the perfect grown up version of "made you look!!":D

Anyone had any luck yet on finding a distributor that can deliver soon? I called Midsouth Ammo last week and was told they hope to have. 45 in by the 1st and ship by the 4th. Midway was initially on track for the 4th or thereabouts, but changed to the 14th for. 45 ammo. I hear that wait times are worse for 12ga.

Who are you guys ordering from, and any luck yet?

I'm not amused. Was hoping for some close ups of the box and ammo.

Sorry I can't help you. I don't shoot much buck shot and I have about 2,000 rnds stashed. I load all my .45 ACP.

As I understand it, zomby ammo simply the critical defense loads only they use green rather than red bullet tips. Other than that it is the same exact ammo.

Midsouth Ammo states the following in part on their website..

Hornady has placed it's own special "Z-Max" Glowing Green Tipped Bullet in a variety of zombie shooting calibers. Hornady estimates shipping all calibers minus the 12ga around Oct 31st, 2011.

I agree with the Mod in that it was purposely shipped AFTER Holloween. It makes sense from a liability standpoint. This would decrease the chances of someone stating that they believed someone was a "Zombie" and "accidentapurposely" shooting said Zombie/bad guy/foregin exchange student on your front lawn.

No Way! You mean it wasn't really developed for zombies?! :)

For those who shoot .308 and .40 both Midway and Midsouth have it in stock. No joy for .223 or what I really want- .45.

Where is the Werewolf ammo? They should make it like the ammo in MHI.
A while back, and I mean years ago, there was this fellow that would plate bullets for you. Silver or gold. Some people (not my kind I guess) would wear plated 9mm bullets on gold chains as jewelry in the 90's. I'm sure you can still get it done. I also saw some real ones cast for a .38spcl. when I was a kid. Sure they were just a jest too.

I think this zombie ammo is the dumbest thing Hornady has ever done. 90% of the bullets I shoot in handguns and half in rifles are Hornady, but I'd never buy this stuff. If they make it limited for ammo collectors, there are very serious ammo collectors and they are fun folks to talk to, then I understand... If this becomes part of the line, they've lost it, and I can't support that kind of stuff. I take shooting seriously, I have fun and all, but I don't daydream about killing anything. Or fantasize about it either.

If they make it part of the line, I may keep using their pistol bullets because there isn't a better one, but I can get my rifle bullets, and I shoot a LOT more of them, from Sierra, Nosler, or Berger, bulletsmiths that take this stuff seriously.

Perhaps it is just a bad idea and goes away. I hope so. Otherwise, why not come out with a box of "copkillers" (you know, with the warning though that they should NEVER be used on anything...) and while we are at it, why not some silver bullets in a werewolf box with a similar warning. How childish.

I guess the problem I have with it is that it totally misses the market. Kids that would like this are too young to be messing with defense ammo outside of supervision, and they need to be learning fundamentals and such. Learning to take a possibly dangerous sport seriously. Older folks have no such use. That leaves a handful of immature kids and serious ammo collectors, hardly a big enough demographic to roll out something like this.

And wait until the Brady Bunch gets ahold of it. It'll be great that they'll lose sleep over something so ridiculous, but sad they'll have "real ammo" that we don't need any of this stuff. That was the AWB arguement in case you forgot, since AR's had NO place as a sporting or hunting firearm, you plain didn't need 'em. My how things have changed.

I see the lighter side of it, I just ordered some from Midway for novelty Christmas presents which are popular in my family.

I am never planning to buy it again, but I do not fault Hornady for it at all. I do not think it is any different than most specialized ammo. Think about it, most of us are about as likely to need ammo for a zombie as we are for penetrating steel, etc...

Because cops are good guys, here to help, can be found all over the place and killing one is immoral and will land you the death penalty.

Zombies never have, never will exist, and if they are killing you it is justified self defense :)
But I see your point. I kinda have mixed feelings about it myself.

Steve Hornady was quoted in something I read last week or so as saying it's a limited run, one time only, because he was a fan of the genre and thought it would be fun.

Can't remember where I saw it or I'd link it.

Really? Lighten up. It's just bullets. Nobody is any more likely to go on a shooting rampage with "Zombie Killers" than with JHP's. It's just for fun and just because you are not a fan of the genre doesn't mean others can't enjoy the fun and novelty of a box of zombie bullets. Sometimes we gun people take ourselves too seriously.
