i think it would be neat if they would release the bullets as components. would be kinda fun to make my own "green" bullets.

BTW, anyone else notice they made them in 30-30 also? kinda cool that the ol' thuddy-thuddy has gone from the cowboy days to the zombie days LOL!

It's nothing more than a sales gimmick, something to get our money, arent good for anything. Now that thats overwith what they really are is s fun thing to have around as a joke, a converstion piece, and something to put a smile on your face, some good old honest fun that we all need.

The way I see it, Hornady Mfg. has opened its-self wide open for a possible
law suit; with the introduction of its "Zombie Ammunition". Evening before
last, we had a double homicide in my area, as a 17 year old shot his parents
to death with a .45 caliber pistol. Now, just suppose he pleas that he feared
for his life because he thought his mom and dad were "ZOMBIES"~! I don't
know for a fact that .45 caliber "ZOMBIE Ammunition" was used; but less just
suppose it was. A good criminal defense attorney worth his/her wait in salt
could turn the tables on Hornady Mfg.; and don't think for one minute that
they would not lead their client down the "ZOMBIE trail"~! ;) :uhoh:

A while back, and I mean years ago, there was this fellow that would plate bullets for you. Silver or gold. Some people (not my kind I guess) would wear plated 9mm bullets on gold chains as jewelry in the 90's. I'm sure you can still get it done. I also saw some real ones cast for a .38spcl. when I was a kid. Sure they were just a jest too.

I think this zombie ammo is the dumbest thing Hornady has ever done. 90% of the bullets I shoot in handguns and half in rifles are Hornady, but I'd never buy this stuff. If they make it limited for ammo collectors, there are very serious ammo collectors and they are fun folks to talk to, then I understand... If this becomes part of the line, they've lost it, and I can't support that kind of stuff. I take shooting seriously, I have fun and all, but I don't daydream about killing anything. Or fantasize about it either.

If they make it part of the line, I may keep using their pistol bullets because there isn't a better one, but I can get my rifle bullets, and I shoot a LOT more of them, from Sierra, Nosler, or Berger, bulletsmiths that take this stuff seriously.

Perhaps it is just a bad idea and goes away. I hope so. Otherwise, why not come out with a box of "copkillers" (you know, with the warning though that they should NEVER be used on anything...) and while we are at it, why not some silver bullets in a werewolf box with a similar warning. How childish.

I guess the problem I have with it is that it totally misses the market. Kids that would like this are too young to be messing with defense ammo outside of supervision, and they need to be learning fundamentals and such. Learning to take a possibly dangerous sport seriously. Older folks have no such use. That leaves a handful of immature kids and serious ammo collectors, hardly a big enough demographic to roll out something like this.

And wait until the Brady Bunch gets ahold of it. It'll be great that they'll lose sleep over something so ridiculous, but sad they'll have "real ammo" that we don't need any of this stuff. That was the AWB arguement in case you forgot, since AR's had NO place as a sporting or hunting firearm, you plain didn't need 'em. My how things have changed.

I would LOVE a single, solid silver .38sp bullet. I'm a big movie nerd, it's why I got into firearms. So some werewolf defense would be great.

Silver Bullets

Silver bullets can be purchased from Bullet Forge. The website says that the bullets can be loaded and fired. They even have silver plated bullets for poor folks like me. Werewolves beware.

That plea would be thrown out, I can't imagine any self respecting court go through with such a plea. If anything, the kid would be declared insane if he thought zombies were real. I'm pretty sure the warnings on the box cover it anyway.

There was several boxes of this stuff i saw today at Storied firearms over here in Austin, Tx. I passed it up, but it was one of the coolest looking ammo boxes I've seen lately...reminded me of haloweeen.

I pre-ordered some of the Zombie ammo when it was announced and I still have not received it yet. I do see it in the stores already.

Anybody in the same boat?

Edit: I got notification that it shipped.

What about the kid that decides that his parents are a couple of "varmints", or "medium sized game".

I personally don't see this as fun or funny. It's just pandering to the lowest common denominator. Anti 2nd Amendment types see this and say, "see I told you they are a bunch of morons!" Guns and ammo are serious business. They are fun too. But this approach is unfortunate at best.

Seen the new Zombie Max at a gun show today. Wanted 19.99 for .223, .45 and .40. Too pricey for my blood. Plus you not able to open the boxes to look at it. So i passed on it.

I just got in my box of 9mm from Cabelas. After shipping it was $23 IIRC. Its pretty much a collectors item. I won't even open the box to look at it as I don't want to risk damaging the box.

Found this at cabas in sidney Ne ;)
