Black powder cartridges are the most awesome. Very nice looking ammo you’ve made.

Sounds like a pretty pleasant afternoon to me!
Im hoping to pack the kids up and go shoot my .22 and hipoint this afternoon. Certainly not as classy (or imo entertaining) as shooting an old lever gun, but it will still be fun.

Looks like a lot of fun. But.....what does the target look like? Or were you ringing steel?

You mean you actually get all the work done around the house and still have some free time left? Man I would love to get out and hit the range with my Rossi Model 92!

some times I don,t get it all done, when I hear one of my Winchesters crying.

You are indeed a most fortunate man! I don't get to play with my "children" until all of the work is done!

A nice way to spend an afternoon.

Around here the work is never done. I sometimes wonder now that I'm retired how I ever had time to work. It seems like there is a never ending supply of work I have to do. However I've learned to push things to the side and relax a little. After all it's still going to be there to do tomorrow.

School is out for the kids Wednesday and Grandma and I will be daycare for two little girls that day. We are going to the shooting range. To heck with work on Wednesday.

I have used it, but the bullets take a while it fill out and by that time the old mold-loading tool is very hot. eastbank.

The .38-40 is a nifty cartridge with a head-scratching name.

I kinda like the 38/40 cartridge - at least I think I do.
I have a 92 Win saddle ring, a 5 1/2"Colt SAA and a 4 3/4" Colt Bisley all in 38/40. They are definately fun to shoot.
Many years ago I used to shoot competition fast draw and the SAA was my competition gun. Still have my gun belt thought I haven't done anything for 25+ yrs.

I went 32-20 in my later years, just sold my 73 with very bad 38-40 barrel and got rid of the 44-40s years ago. I still shoot 25-20, lots of 32-20, lots of .45Colt and some .44 spec. old ones tho :)

I've got the same rifle and the same tool in the same caliber. I haven't used the mold, but as a reloading tool it works fine. Loaded several boxes with it, a little slow but works great, definitely will strengthen your hands. lol

I use 180g round nose flat point boolits over 5.5g of Trail Boss. Light load, safe for the old rifle.

I'm curious; what is it about the .32-20 do you like? Don't get me wrong, I have a 1892 Winchester in .32-20 and a Peacemaker in it....but I also have .44-40 and .45 Colt as well.

I load 32-20 for a long time, I use .314" 90 grain multi cavity mold with a semi rounded flat point . I size them for .30 Carbine (Ruger ) .30 luger, .32 S&W, and .32 -20 and others. The .32-20 and the others use little powder and lead and are fun !

I used to reload my 45-70s with the Lyman 310 hand tool. Very hard on the hands. It was cool at first though.

I loaded 3006 at the range with a tong tool years ago as a young man, but I was using old H-4831 cannon powder(.90 cents a pound) and had sized and primed the cases on a old C-press. it ok for working up loads at the range, add the weight of powder(beam scales) and seat the bullet with the tong tool. eastbank.

I have a Uberti 38/40 repro in the same configuration, as fun as it is to shoot plus the added mystic of shooting a 100+ year old original.
I fell in love with the 10mm auto when I first started shooting a lot back in the 90s only makes sense I'd gravitate toward the 38/40 when I got into cowboy guns.
