(with my SP101 in between because why not)

My wife discovered these while going through my late father-in-law's things. The Colt Cobra has a lot of wear marks but seems to be mechanically very sound; the Dan Wesson is in immaculate condition. I thought they were cool so I wanted to share.

Sorry for you and your wife's loss. Nice revolvers though.

Thanks, I appreciate it. He passed away well over a year ago, and it's just that we're now going through some of the last of his things. I didn't mean for the post to come off as insensitive and I hope it didn't.

Looks like a Colt, a Ruger and a Dan Wesson. Your father in law had excellent taste in revolvers. I also send belated condolences.

I didn't take it as insensitive. I made the assumption this may have been a more recent event.

The Ruger is mine ;-)

I was very impressed by how well both the Colt and the Dan Wesson have held up despite heading a half-century old. The Colt had NOT been babied--stored in a sock drawer, gummed up with lint, and I think carried often based on the wear marks--but after a quick cleaning, lock up is crisp and precise and the trigger is great. The Dan Wesson was babied (and he even still stored in the original factory packaging) and it feels like clockwork.

My father passed away last August. My condolences. He had good taste in revolvers.

nice. I am sure he would want you to enjoy them.

That's the plan. We wouldn't ever sell them but we wouldn't let them sit around collecting dust either. My wife is more interested in the Dan Wesson, and the Colt Cobra really appeals to me in a 1950s detective show kind of way.

Got them out to the range today!

The Dan Wesson is a pleasure to shoot and easy to shoot well. That said, ergonomically it's made for a bigger hand than mine so I never really felt comfortable with it, but the results were excellent. Incredible trigger; it actually threw me because it was so light and crisp it reminded me in practice more of my old 1911 than my long, heavy, and stacking SP101 trigger.

The Colt Cobra beat me up and beat me up good. The highly-undercut trigger guard felt ergonomically pretty good to me...right up until it recoiled into my middle knuckle a couple times. And the gun moved around in my hand quite a lot when shooting, making accurate follow up shots very slow. Clearly a gun meant to be carried often and shot rarely. And it's incredibly small and light for a six-shot revolver. But pleasant to shoot? Not so much.
