I have for the last year or so been really enjoying M1 Garands. Here recently though I decided that I needed a M1A. I bought one last week finally from a board member. Standard Model. It had a H&R barrel, and the rest is Springfield. It was made in 2002. I ordered some Aussi Ammo and waited for the Monsoons here lately to stop. I was kinda wondering about the way it would act with all the reports on Springfield. Well As a side note, My dad isn't a big target shooter but is a big hunter. When he comes to visit I usually take him to the range with me while Mom and Wife shop. He liked the M1s and has talked numerous times about M14s. He was issued one in the Army. So Last night they came to visit. I told him to wait a sec and walked out with the M1A. His eyes lit up and he got excited and started telling my mom how he had one like that in Basic. It was worth it there. He is not one to usually get all excited about weapons. He made comments like he would start saving .308 brass for me to load now. Well today when the rain let up I took it for its first outing to the range. 3 shots at 50 meters and it was sighted in. Moved the target to 150 Meters and not 1 shot was outside the black. I adjusted the windage once but groups were around 2 inches. I am now in love. I am in dire need of practice so I am sure it would do even better with someone better and handloads. Not one problem with it. This weapon is outstanding. I have no problem whatsoever with SA pistols and now I am sold on their rifles. I know some people complain but I must be really lucky or the ones who have the really bad problems have bad luck. I'm glad that I got to hand it to my dad and I think now he will find target shooting to be a new hobby.

Nifty how it sparked the memories for your dad and they were positive ones at that.
