So I made a thread on here last week debating if I should trade my Ruger GP100 for a used WASR that was a little iffy....

Well, lady luck rolled my way, and I ended up getting a $550 cash offer from someones else for my Ruger. I made the sale on Saturday and went straight to my local gun shop and picked up a brand new (if you can call it that) WASR 10/63 for $499. Came with 2 mags, a bayonet, the wood furniture that I wanted (the AK i was debating on the trade for had a crappy folding stock). Take a look at my new toy....

It may not shoot the tightest group for you, but it will go "bang" each and every time. Nice rifle.......

Sounds great, I love my WASR. I stripped and stained the wood and it improved it's looks a lot, was a nice weekend project.

I had stay away from the AK for many years, no real reason just didn't want one. This year I picked up a Rommian, and it was fine. Traded it for no real reason and then I just had to have another one. This time I found a MAADII that shoot great, and stepped in the deep pocket book and put a SLIDEFIRE on it. Marriage made in Heven or Texas where the SSF is made. Makes me wonder why I ever doubted them

Looks awesome man, I love mine too, no problems after a couple years. While the quality of Tapco has been debated, my WASR has their collapsible stock, SAW grip and Galil forend, they work outstanding for me! Haven't tried their magazines though. Enjoy your new rifle!

very nice buy, hope you enjoy it. I love mines, perhaps my favorite rifle I own.

Have the same one . stripped it down . Cleaned & painted . refinished the furniture . My favorite rifle by far . Enjoy !

Nice. Better finish than the one I got! I had to get some rust off the front. And even still, the finish is kinda trashed. I'll DuraCoat soon.

And another +1 to Ammoman. Got 2,000 rounds of Wolf HP from them so far, and I'm about to place another order in the near future. A lot of people hate WASR's, but the ones that are solid are GREAT.

jhnrckr, I ended up picking it up from Gat. $499 for the gun, 2 mags, and a bayonet. Haven't shot it yet, but all of the initial signs of WASR quality (canted sight, loose mags, etc.) are all good. Looks like I got a good one.

The newly imported 10/63s are fine. Most of the bad reports are years and years old..... Cugir / Century has long ago addressed the issues they were having, imo.

let us know how it shoots.... 2"-4" off hand at 100yds is about par for the wasr or any AK. I also like the wood, although the fun of a wasr is finishing the wood. i prefer the russian red look.... I also find a very hot bath in soapy water with a nylon scrub brush followed by a good hot rinse and then oil down, makes the metal finish look much better. (Gets the cosmoline off / out of the parkerized finish)
