I have, for years, carried a Springfield XD40sc with a 9 round mag with Pearce Grip pinky extension and a 12-rd extra mag. I've shot it well, been happy with its 100% reliability with Federal HST, and my ability to shoot it well.

Recently, I acquired a Blue Label gen 3 Glock G19, having also built several Polymer80 gen 3 clones that functioned perfectly. After another excellent range day with my Glock G19, and 250 malfunction-free rounds previously, I decided to make my G19 my new daily carry. I keep a 15-round (CO Maximum) in it with a second 15-round mag either on my belt or in a mag pocket in my pants.

I've been impressed with the reliability of this pistol and the accuracy I can achieve. I've decided to bet my life on it. (I should note that, at 75, I've never drawn a firearm in self-defense in more than 40 years and hope never to do so but train weekly). In a Blade-Tech Total Eclipse, it's my new EDC...until I've satisfied myself that my Glock G43X is a suitable alternative.

I hear you. For years I carried either the XD Mod subcompact 9mm or 45acp. I have several hundred successful rounds through my Glock 48MOS. It is my new EDC. I have 2 of the Shield Arms 15 round mags and will be getting more. It is great to have choices to carry.

Enjoy your 19!

Thanks, Joe. I have a G43X into which I put a Shield Arms steel mag release and have now got 4 gen 2 Shield Arms 15-rd mags and a Blade-Tech Total Eclipse for it. As soon as I satisfy myself that I can shoot it as accurately as my G19, it becomes my new(er) EDC. I'm still pulling a little bit left on the trigger but I expect that I'll sort this out in a few more range sessions. It is more concealable, lighter, and more comfortable...but accuracy and reliability is the determining factor in selecting an EDC pistol.

I didn't expect to like Glocks as much as I do as a long time 1911 grip angle user.

Cheers,

Harry

Glock are good guns. You made a good decision. I don’t own any Glocks but there is nothing wrong with them.

Today at the range, I was slightly more accurate with my G19 than my G43X. I'll do another range day next week but I'm leaning toward moving to the G43X. With Shield Arms 15-rd mags, I can save space, get better concealment, and still have 15-rd capacity. Both great handguns.

How much of an accuracy difference are you getting between the G-19 and G-43X? Despite the thinner grip and shorter sight radius on the G-43X I am shooting mine with results that are almost interchangeable with my Gen 3 Glock 19.

20 shots each gun @ 10 yds with both the G-19 and G-44 .22 (These were the first shots ever with this model 44, it is a great training/practice gun for Glock owners!)

30 shots @ 10 yds with the G-43X:

I have no idea why, but the Glock 19 / 44 design and my mitts go together really well… and the Glock 48-43X grip fit is even better. :)

You have two good ones there, IMHO you can’t go wrong with either one.

Stay safe.

Funny how that works, isnt it? The Glocks and 1911's with an arched MSH have basically the same grip angle. The flat MSH makes a little bit of difference, but really not all that much.

Regardless, once you shoot both for a little bit, your brain knows both and adjusts without any conscious thought. Its not the big deal you always hear from those who dont like Glocks.

One thing nice about the Glocks is mag compatibility among the same family group. The larger guns mags work in all the smaller guns down the line. A 26 can use the 17, 19, and 33 round mags interchangeably.

I carry a 17, and have 19's and 26's, and use a 17 mag as a reload for all of them.

I picked up a 42 and 43 when they first came out, and quickly realized they really werent much different size-wise from my 26's, and I gave up the mag commonality. The 26 also has that hand-filling feel to it and for me, handled better than the others.

It is for me. I don't like the way a Glock fits my hand so don't own any. I also don't like arched MS housings on 1911s but that is an easy fix. There are just too many choices out there to mess with something you don't care for.

Its really only a big deal if you insist it is. Spend a little time with, and actually learn what you dont know, and things are usually a good bit different on the other side.

But, we all do what we do and if youre happy, Im happy. :)

Well, you probably know what is said about opinions. I will make mine clear anyway. I don't want to spend time with a Glock learning what I don't know and I'm happy with that.

I pray you never have need to draw and actually use your ccw, but I am glad you have a dependable one available to you if push ever came to shove.

My edc is a Glock also, and I’m glad to have it.
