I love it!

Bianchi military belt; Bianchi UM92 Size 1 flap holster...2 x quad 1911 magazine pouches!

Even on my little skinny azz, fits just right, doesn't move around. Doesn't even make me look fat :neener:

Pics below...

Bone stock SA Mil-Spec, late 2011 production, except for grips.

I have a similar set-up only in OD and not quite so many mags and mag pouches.

May I suggest adding a PRC-77 to call in an airstrike when your mags run out? :neener:

My Bianchi M12 gets a lot of use when I take my Beretta 92FS into the woods of New Hampshire.

PRC-119A, maybe.

Now, if I had my Beretta 92 with me, I'd only need half as many mags
Yeah but we all know the M9 just makes 'em mad when you shoot 'em, and the M1911 KNOCKS THEM DOWN!! :D

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Very cool rig OP. All those mags must get heavy though... why not just one quad pouch?

My version:

Starting with my early production Springfield Armory M1911 A1, still completely box stock.

Add a Bianchi M12 holster.

And finish the rig with two WWI vintage Mills double mag pouches.

That's an awesome rig too, do you have a web belt?

Sure do but currently it's part of another web gear rig that I have packed away somewhere in my basement.

Oh dang. Your gear is begging for a green USGI web belt! :D

I love that Springfield. I wish they would make them in that configuration still.

The gun is a late-2011 production SA "Mil-Spec" model, bone stock except for the grips (VZ "Frag" pattern).

Why two quad pouches? Just seemed right, I guess.

Welcome to 1984. Bianchi released the UM84 (he paid for all of the development out of his pocket) in 1984 before he sold it to the US military.

I keep the 1984 version hanging in the closet ready for 1911 and magazines. If things go south it's a nice way to have what one needs fast. Of course, over the years I've had to adjust the belt as it seems to have shrunk and stretched from time to time.

I'll play :)

Here's one I've assembled from all 1943 parts (excepting the holster, it's a 1991 reproduction).

And I have "Parts Numbers" magazines for the carrier, and a very nice USN Mk I Knife. Canteen and cup are both marked 1943, too--nice gun show score.

Ok, this is my 20 y/o service belt with UM*$ (in 1911 size rather than M9 size)

attachment.php

The mag carrier is a two cell single stack. Yes, that canteen is fitted with the adapter fro the M17 mask. The med kit contents are up to date--old habit that, now. The Cold Steel is not really "regulation" but was within "CO's discretion" (especially now that I'm CO).

No longer have a 1911 with a lanyard loop--keep look, but nobody but me seems to want an old, matte, milspec 1911 down to my LGS. May fix that later this year.

OOOOHHHH BABY!! These web belt rigs are giving me the vapors!! :)

I am about to get an M590A1 shotgun and I want to do a web belt setup for it. I want a web belt, suspenders, two of the 12-round shotgun ammo pouches (already bought them), a Bianchi UM92II holster w/ thumb break adapter for my Glock 19, two M9 mag pouches for the Glock, and an M7 bayonet w/scabbard. That combine with a claymore mine bag for extra shotgun shells should get me a really cool "pointman rig"!! :D

Cooldill, the M590 came out pretty concurrently with the M9 bayonet, which scabbard uses the same spring frame the UM84 does.

Back in those days, the shotgunner on the FAST team would just slice out the mag dividers on the LC2 pouches and jamb in a cardboard bulk box of 12ga shells to hold shape (the heavy waxed cardboard box holding 100 linked rounds for the M-60 was much preferred, though).

You could legitimately use either the "Y" LC2 suspenders, or nylon "H" LC2 suspenders--the latter giving far better support to a "butt" pack if one were to be rigged.

I have an LC1 LBE/782 rig set up with 20 round M16 mags (if I find the pics I'll post them) as well as a correct set of LC2 for 30 round mags, and the very briefly fielded LBV (load bearing vest) for 6 M16 mags, too. That's in storage and would take digging out.

Being both military and a collector, I also have a complete USMC M 1961 rig for M-14, and some similar rigs fro KW and WWII

Found more photos

We had a thread here on "war belts" and load-carrying gear about 5-6 years' ago, so I have these low-res photos.

This it the USMC M 1961 rig--which includes the rare soft-side M-14 cleaning kit, too.
attachment.php

Here's another 1943 dated rig--belt is a combination rig which will hold either (2) 5 round 1903 clips, or a single 8 round en bloc clip. The bayonet is the USN Mk I. The canteen is an enameled zinc that was only issued in '43 as a result of strategic materials shortages.

Here is a LC2 rig for 6 M16 mags rigged in MC/Naval fashion
attachment.php

Here is an M-56 rig--which has a "pack adapter" (converts butt pack to shoulder pack) which ought to be on the LC1 rig.
attachment.php

Here is the very stripped down LC1 rigg with 20 round mag carriers.

One last--a late WWII or KW Carbine rig

CapnMac...NICE KIT! All of it!

My interest in a field carry rig stemmed from the fact that my uncle (VN, 67-69), carried, in the late 80s and through the 90s, an M12 with his Beretta 92FS. My cousin got the Beretta AND the holster (not what you think; my uncle is still very much alive), and I don't know of the disposition of said gun and holster today.

My uncle, in his obviously unsound mind, gave up the >> King of Automatics, The Beretta 92FS!!! << for a new acquisition......wait for it......a wheelgun!

A Ruger GP100, 6", SS, etc.

Blasphemy!

Truth be known, if had to buy a brand new DA revolver today (Colt Pythons no longer) it would be a GP100. Maybe my suggestion influenced my uncle. Dunno.

I thought about the M12 and UM84, but liked the UM92 for the little rigid thingy at the trigger guard. I've never owned a flap holster until recently. Lots of Galcos and Bianchis, but never a flap holster.

But with the Bianchi pistol belt, UM92, and the Bianchi quad mag holders, I think I'm good for at least a little while on the range.

Funny...I had to go to a State shooting range to be able to use a holster on the firing line. Not so, around here. Well, not a LOT of things, around here.

Trust me. Not a LOT of things.

Thank God I moved from Georgia in February 2012 with all my stuff. Grandfathered, I was. I done did it fer luuuuuv, and got married, at 44 years old. (She's career, senior administration at Johns Hopkins...with her pension program.)

So I live in MD, again.

Your sympathy is welcome. And I thank you all. Really.

This is the reason why I absolutely love forums. You get to learn all kinds of tidbits! Very cool to learn that's how some carried shotshells in the military. I'll keep that in mind! :)

YankeeFlyr, my UM84 is also wearing a thumb snap, it's just presently tucked under the spring frame.

Without the flap it's not the best single-point retention system, but satisfactory enough. The flap alonee is actually much more secure if you are allowed to have a single-point carry (there were times, long ago, when mere O-2 were required to have 2-point retention (and a lanyard).

Now, I'm probably mis-remembering, but I want to remember Bianchi made a UM series holster fro generic large frame revolver--like a SP-100

Always like the ride of the UM series--stayed put, no flopping about, and if you could not find a comfortable way to wear the rig, either the regs were too strict or you were too picky. Extensions, leg drops, and both a vertical and diagonal over-the shoulder rigs are/were available.

Coodill,
I'm third generation Navy--if you don't share . . .
Awesome. :) I'm AD Air Force and we actually use some of the old ALICE gear in the field. I just want to make a rig that looks appropriate for an M590A1, or at least USGI inspired. I actually bought all the stuff I needed last night, a web belt, suspenders, two pistol magazine pouches, a Bianchi flap holster w/ thumb snap adapter, and have some recent production Vietnam-style milspec contract shotshell pouches en route. I also got an M7 bayonet w/ scabbard. It's a little more old school, but I think it looks nicer than the M9 bayonet. A black "silent sling" completed it.

Now all I need is the cotton pickin' shotgun! And the proper heat shield. My goal is to produce a "modern trench gun" which has all the features of the old M1897/M1912 trench guns but in the modern M590A1 setup. The same barrel length, same bead sights, same heat shield, same bayonet mounting ability, same shape to the stock furniture, same everything except the M590A1 will be plastic and hold more shells. :D

My final version : Para P-14 with +2 mags......
001.gif
uses the Mad Dog Dundee knife rig strap as a Sam Browne type support .
002-1.gif

dump pouch detaches but has a padded strap for thigh if necessary on bottom of mag pouch part

Thanks for the great photos of all the different rigs. I have many of the different components, like the OD canvas pouch that held shotgun shells and some early canvas M16 magazine pouches as well.
