I purchased a new Kahr PM9 last weekend, and am thrilled with it so far. I had my doubts about any sort of accuracy with a 9mm DAO autoloader this small, but this one surprised me. I had a Kel Tec P3AT, but I would do well to even hit an 8.5" X 11" target at 10 yards. I sold the Kel Tec and researched other options, and finally arrived at the PM9.

I shot 100 rounds of 115 grain WWB through it today, and there were no malfunctions of any kind. Prior to any actual shooting, I did clean, lube, and cycle the slide several hundred times this past week, then removed the plastic shavings, and re-lubed it with CLP. Once I became accustomed to the trigger, I could easily shoot all 6 rounds (I only had the 6 round mag with me) into one ragged hole at 10 yards. It was hitting a little low with the 115 grain ammo, but I will head out again in a couple of days with some 124 grain ammunition to see if it will bring the point of impact up a little.

I am very pleased so far, and I would definitely recommend this little pocket rocket to anyone needing a weapon in this size class. Will let you guys know how it does on my next outing!

They aren't cheap but they are certainly one of the best pocket guns on the market...the only reason you don't hear more about them is they are simply more than the average guy is going to spend for a pocket rocket. That said it's certainly aparent what you get for your money...something that actually works and you can hit with. I'm teatering on making an offer on a buds mk9 (same thing in all stainless -including frame) it's heavier but that has advantages and disadvantes. I think the PM9 is certainly more ideal as weight is a daily concern more than a slight increase in "shootabillity" for something like this. I just can't make myself buy a P3AT...I sell a bunch of em. I'm just not a keltec guy I guess. My life has to be worth more than $250 and 95 grains-LOL

congrats...excellent purchase (jealous)

I also just got in a Detonics stainless .45 (like an hour ago) that is calling my name! It's a bit heavy...I don't know that I really like it for a carry gun but it is neat to play with...I may have to go shoot it tomorrow!

Thanks for posting Coyote. Good info for a guy in the same spot as you were.

I also had a hard time deciding between the MK9 and PM9, but the light weight "packability" of the PM9 eventually won me over. That said, the MK9 would probably be easier to get used to, because my best groups with the flyweight PM9 required a pretty firm grip. This little pistol definitely requires a firm deliberate hold to really shine.

By the way, I got the night sights and blackened slide on mine, because I prefer an all black gun, and the sights are supposedly a real pain to install later.

I don't think that you could go wrong with either of the baby Kahrs, but there is just something attractive about a gun that is so light, that you can easily forget it is there!

Recoil from the PM9 for me is a non issue. I found it very pleasant to shoot, and my hand was none worse for wear after a quick 100 shots. If you get one, you probably will love it!:)

I just hope that I do not run into the peening issues, or any of the other problems I have read about on this board. I figure that if anything negative happens with my factory new PM9, then Kahr should take care of me.

That was my next question. Thanks.

Were you able to find any deals or able to get it much below MSRP? The pricing is steep.

Congrats on getting a fine little pocket rocket!I just recently got a DLC coated PM9 myself.I am lacking a little in the accuracy dept so far,as all I have shot for the last year is 1911's,gonna take me some time to get used to the trigger.I love the little cannon, fits in my front pocket perfectly with a Desantis Nemisis pocket holster.I highly recomend this holster, and it is dirt cheap,a lot of other guys with PM9 I have talked to have them and love them. Here is a pic of the holser and PM9

I looked at Gunbroker, and every online dealer that I could find, but I eventually bought the PM9 with blackened slide and night sights from Sportsman's Warehouse for $699.00 (before they adjusted their price for the Jan 2008 Kahr price increase). The standard sight model was $599.00, and the natural stainless slide models were even less.

I probably could have saved a few dollars by ordering over the net, but I wanted see what my money was buying, desired a gun that was not continuously fondled, and especially not one that had been subjected to multiple slide drops on an empty chamber.

I grit my teeth when I see ignorant salespeople and customers so commonly do this, because there has never been any autoloader that benefited from it.:cuss: I had them bring me an untouched (non-abused) one from the back.:)

From a recoil standpoint, it is nowhere near as punishing as one of the ultralight titanium or scandium S&W snubby 38 special revolvers. I had one of them a few years ago, but eventually sold it because of the stinging recoil. My .44 magnum S&W Mountain Gun is definitely more pleasant to shoot!

I desired a high quality pocket sized weapon that I could put many hundreds of rounds down the pipe, and become very familiar with, but not make my hand go numb from shock.

I now have a Desantis Nemisis on the way for the PM9, and hopefully will like it.

Congrats on the purchase. I bought one through budsgunshop.com for about $575 in october or november. I absolutely love it. Perfect for carry and once I got used to the trigger and hold it was EXTREMELY accurate for a gun it's size. Within 10 yards I'm as accurate with it as I am my taurus 1911. I looked for months trying to decide on a new carry pistol, and I never found anything besides the no-sights-financially-impractical-Rohrbaugh that came close to this kahr in power and concealability. It has also been 100% reliable. I now have several hundred rounds through it with absolutely no failures of any kind. I would not hesitate a moment to trust my life to it.

I also looked at, handled, and thought about the Rohrbaugh, and while it was a beautiful piece of work, the lack of interchangeable sights were the clincher for me to go ahead and buy the PM9. By the time I paid sales tax on my PM9, I could have just about made an internet purchase on the Rohrbaugh, but I am extremely happy with my decision.

I may, at some point, give the Rohrbaugh a try, but other than a very slight edge in concealability, there seems to be no real advantage over the PM9.

congrats on the new gun, i have a k-40 and i love it, i am glad that you like it so far. fyi kahr recommends a 200rd break in period, mine didn't need such a break in period but i followed the manual anyway.

I have both the p9 and the little pm9 and like both . The peening ect seems to be limited to a narrow serial no range of pms when Kahr got a bad supply of barrels from a 3rd party supplyer .

Congratulations

on the PM9.

As indicated, Kahr has had some issues with the early models. This is unfortunate but they certainly aren't the first nor will they be the last when manufacturing something with close tolerances in a compact package.

It seems they are either 100% or eventually require a trip back. I had one that supposedly was a later model and should have been trouble free. Not. It went back once, and has been trouble free ever since. I went into the PM 9 knowing that it may have issues.
I also knew from others shared experiences that Kahr was addressing the issues and taking care of their customers and were committed to the products long term viability.
It is IMO the finest pocket nine yet available today. I like the R9 but I don't like the mag release and there just isn't that much size difference to justify double the price.

You made a great choice.

Here is my PM9 and the last target from day before yesterday. This target shows the last 24 rounds from the little gun. The point of impact is a little left and low, but my hold is probably to blame for the incorrect windage.

I was trying to focus on consistency with the little beast, and this off hand 10 yard target proved to me that this is indeed a very accurate weapon (when I do my part)!
