so i JUST got back from the toy store with a marlin 917 in 17mk2 and when i go to load the mag into the port the damn mag tab breaks off and store wont help me. i think i got kicked in the rear on this one :(

Check your states consumer dept. good chance the "store" will have to honor a warranty. If not call Marlin they will I feel confident.

BTW I would not shop there again.

Call Marlin,

They will set it right. They are a stand up company. Just tell them what happened.

Marlin is a stand-up company with top-notch customer service. Give Marlin a call if the store won't make it right. May have to send it ot Marlin, but it WILL be right when done.

It happens with the best of them. I would call Marlin and tell them what happened and Im sure it will be taken care of

A lot of gun shops, as I understand it, won't take a return on a gun that's been out their door. But it's not the store who will probably fix your gun... it'll be the manufacturer. I've had to send a couple of guns back to be tweaked... to Winchester and Colt for different reasons. They were under warrantee and the manufacturers did the work for no charge. In the case of the magazine tab, you're only talking about replacing one part... right? If Marlin's the stand-up company it's been said to be, they do the same. Or, you can get online at Numrich (e-gunparts) and probably get that part and replace it yourself for little money and less waiting time.

I don't know whether I'd shop at the shop in question or not. It may or may not be a problem. Did they say they could send it back or did they offer anything at all?

Make sure your're talking to the owner of the shop, and ask if they can handle the return back to the Mfg'er. If not, let them know you plan on letting the Manufacturer know how poorly they handled the situation. The retailer may or may not care, but talk with your wallet and hit'em where it hurts--In their bottom line.

Ask Marlin to send you a new part, I'm sure they will. If you have trouble doing it yourself they will let you talk to someone who will help you on the phone. And I would tell them about the store. Ask the store owner why you should buy anything there ever again. I hear a lot of talk about how we have to support our local shops, but I hear stuff like this all the time and have had it happen to me. Frankly, I find I get better service from strangers over the internet.

Good to hear they're sending you that part. And the fact that they're sending you a laminated stock you probably didn't ask for... I'd say that's their way of thanking you for choosing their product... kinda like Remington's ammo division did when I had a problem; the not only sent me a reimbursment check, but also an orange cap. These manufacturers... the older American companies... they have a way of going the extra mile.
