So, I picked this up at the gun show a few weeks ago and re-finished the stock. I stripped all the old finish off and applied Minwax Provincial oil-based stain. I took 0000 steel wool to lighten up the heavily stained areas and to hi-lite the wood grain. Finally, I applied a coat of Fairtrimmer's military Ox gunstock oil and hand rubbed it. This is the result and I'm very pleased with it. This gun has many dents and dings on the stock and the stain/steel wool really darken those areas to give the gun a lot of character. Unfortunately, this is a non-matching gun, but the stock has no cracks, and all the metal is nearly perfect except for the stock cap. The most appealing aspect of this rifle is how tight the bayonet fits. There is exactly zero play in the fitment and it's rock solid. I gave about $220 for it.
