New to me, anyway.
Thought it would be appropriate for my induction to senior status to announce today's purchase of my New Model .22cal single six.
Went to the gun shop early today to "look around". Two very nice looking revolvers on a rack behind the counter just begging to be taken to a new home. Both were used and neither had come into the shop with a box, owner's manual or any extras.
Trying to remember all the checks necessary to purchase used revolvers, I stumbled through the procedure as best I could. Admittedly, I am a newb when it comes to buying used. The "asking price" was $239 for the better looking of the two. I've wanted one of these for awhile so I made an offer of $180. The guy countered with $195. I gulped just a little and said "sold".
It really is a beauty(to me, anyway). It's blued, 6 1/2", stock wood grips and very clean.
I did the Ruger web site serial # search to determine the build date. 1988.
I've spent the last hour or so getting aquainted and giving it a cleaning .
I can't just go outside to run a few thru where I am so I'll have to wait a day or so for my test fire.
Now the question this newb forgot to ask at the store. The gun is marked
.22 CAL. It has no other markings other than "new model" Single-Six.
My question--can I use mag loads with the existing (only) cylinder. I like CCI MiniMags but will use only .22lr if I have to.
This being said, can I get a mag cylinder for this model? Any input would be welcome. Thanks.

You can shoot any .22 CB cap, Short, Long, or Long Rifle round, including all of the MiniMags, Stingers, etc.

You cannot shoot .22 Magnum WMR in your .22 LR cylinder because they won't even fit.

You would have to contact Ruger with your guns serial number and see if they will fit a .22 WMR cylinder to it or not.
