With the cost of .223 and 5.56 ammo right now, my 5.56 has been sitting in the safe a bit. I have been eyeing the Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 for awhile as a way to keep fresh on my AR platform and its functions, but shoot it at a much lower price. I bought 1100 rounds of Federal .22LR at WalMart yesterday for $38. 1100 rounds of .223 would almost pay for the whole M&P 15-22 itself.

I was in a gun store yesterday and saw a color version that seems to be rare, and I really loved it so much that I had to buy it on the spot. Black and coyote brown/desert tan. Magpul collapsible stock and flip up front and rear sights. I think it is called the MOE version. Love the color. Took it to the range last night, no jams or misfires and it is very accurate. Our range is only 25 yards, but at 25 yards I was shooting tight groups with just the iron sights. The flat top and quad rails will accept my optics, laser and flashlight from my AR if I want to swap between the two to save money. I might have to zero after swapping each time, but at the cheap cost of .22 ammo, that is no big deal. Attached are a couple of pics.

Those are nice. Glad they are putting flash hiders on there now to complete the look.

Very nice!

I have a plain jane 15-22, and I love it. Accurate, a blast to shoot, and has oodles of accessories just like my 10/22.

I love my 15-22 but I hate having the neutered version. No collapsible stock, no flash hider, no 25 round mags. I hate NJ sometimes  but anyway it looks great! Have fun with er

I have one too. Great rifle! Just be sure to read and heed the ammo requirements as outlined on page 10 of the Owner's Manual. :)

I'll bet the grandsons would burn up a lot of ammo if I got one of those. So would I.

I like it! Looks great with the FDE Magpul goodies on it. Just needs some rail covers and a good sling.

I have one and I am thrilled with it! Cheaper than dedicated .22lr AR-15 uppers, light weight, and so far functions perfectly! Just make sure to load the magazine correctly.
