Well...here she is, Stainless TC Encore 12 Guage w/24" Turkey Barrel. TC Scope Mount, Leupold VXII 3-9x40 scope, Harris Bipod.

My story began at Walmart. It's crazy to expect too much, but they actually special ordered the stainless frame and had it at the store in 1 week. Not too bad. Another call later at E. Arthur Brown Co landed me a TC Encore turkey barrel and mounts/forend. If you are looking for barrels/ accessories, these folks seem to be among the best priced. Service was freindly and delivery prompt.

I'll do a full review with range report later, but for now I'll point out a few things I've noticed.

1. You are not limited to TC Choke tubes. Mossburg 500 choke tubes and similar will fit just fine. I had this verified by TC and I personally screwed in a IC choke for initial slug shooting tests. I'll purchase a rifled choke soon and test that as well.

2. The scope mount is l o n g!. My crude measurements bring it to 8 1/4 ". This is necessary because I believe the barrel is too thin in the chamber section to tap. As you can imagine, a 12 guage barrel in a TC Encore frame is stretching tolerances to the limit! The 6 scope mounting screws are forward of the chamber section. With 6 screws it is definitely secure. Scope mounting also required the removal of the rear sight, so no backup if your scope should fail.

3. The ejector is more of an extractor. No automatic ejector. The shell casing is brought out just enough to remove manually.

4.The camo finish is extremely nice and I personally think it goes well with the blk stocks and satin stainless reciever finish.

5. Trigger pull is EXCELLENT with little or no takeup. Just a clean crisp pull. There is an overtravel adjustment feature, but it is not needed.

6. The entire system, even with Bipod is feels lighter than my 870 with scope. Without the bipod and scope and the TC feels like a featherweight!

7. The forearm is also specific to the shotgun barrel and you cannot use a standard rifle forearm. You could possibly attempt to modify one, but I wouldn't try.
That's about it for the weapon...and cost?

Stainless Frame with Synthetic Stock- $310 w/ tax at Walmart.
Camo Barrel/Scope Mount/Forend- $350 w/ shipping.
Total= $660.00

Cheap? Nope, but I think it's worth it. A plus is that the scope mount is attatched directly to the barrel, so I won't have any shift in impact if I remove the barrel for cleaning.

Again, I'll post a review later, but for now I'm just putting down some rambing thoughts about the TC.:D
Good Shooting
