I replaced a Colt I had regretted selling for years. I sold a Colt Officer's ACP in bright stainless steel to pay for car repairs when I was a poor college student. I hated letting that one go, it was so pretty it was like art that could shoot bullets.

Well I found my replacement for that gun, a Colt Government Model Series 80 in bright stainless steel. I'll get to shoot it this weekend. I forgot what a pain in the rear it is to actually touch a gun with a high polish stainless finish. I'm always wiping finger prints off, but I think it is beautiful, so it is worth the hassle. If it shoots worth a darn I'll be very happy. :)

Tell me what you think if this one. Sorry my pictures are kind of small, one day I'll learn this web hosting stuff. The larger pictures really look good, I guess you'll just have to trust me on that.

gulogulo1970, congratulations on obtaining your beautiful Colt. If properly maintained, it will shoot as well as it looks.

That is really gorgeous!!!

How did you get that finish? I do not believe it is a factory option..... :scrutiny:

Beethoven, Colt made a small number of most of their autopistols in what they call their "Ultimate Bright Stainless Steel Finish" I also believe that they also offered the Python with that finish for a while. It is such a high polish that it looks like polished nickel.

Actually, now you can send Colt a regular stainless steel pistol and they will polish it to a ultimate polish for $225.00. This one came that way, BTW.

Boy. A new Stainless Colt 1991A1 Series 80 will run around $700 or so, IF, and that is a big IF, you can find one.

That's not including taxes & fees, so tack on $100 for that plus $225 for the refinish and you're at $1,000!!!

I really like that gun, but not for that much!!! Maybe someday......

Thanks for the pics!

Or you can find one like mine at an Auction for $592.00. :D

Which by the way is more than $200.00 less than I paid for the BSTS Officer's model I bought in 1991. So for me It was a good deal.
