Latest addition to my growing in numbers but shrinking in caliber collection.
Marlin 917V, the one i call El Cheapo.

It is wearing BSA Sweet 17 scope and i installed Rifle Basix trigger, right now it breaks at crisp 12 oz. This the third Rifle Basix trigger i use, great stuff. Why can't Marlin install them as a factory option is beyond my comprehension.

Haven't fired it yet but i expect good things from it.

Sweet gun, had one just like it but ended up trading it in (plus a pile of cash) for a Bushmaster Predator. Sometimes I wish I had that little bugger back, but I couldnt justify having 2 basically varmint/target guns.

I have found from shooting a variety of marlin 17's, that they may benefit from a couple of tweeks;
1) THOROUGHLY channel out the stock, the bbl likes a lot of airflow under it.
2) Even after this, it may or may not like a little pressure pad up front,
under the bbl, you may have to move it a 1/2 inch at a time , between
groups, to see if it improves the accuracy or not.
3) take some aluminum tape, cut into finger strips sized like bandaids,
and tape them in around the action area of the stock, on all sides of the
stock opening, where the action will fit in. Usually 2 or three strips thick on top of each other, like stacking bacon. Marlins need to fit very snuggly
into their own,... ahem..." assgroove", especially between reloads, or even turning up the weapon vertically to stow it in a rack on the range.
If this last one helps your accuracy a good bit, you may wanna consider
bedding it. I like the overall torque on the takedown screw about 25 lbs.
