My pocket holster needs to stay in my pocket. Any advice?

I'm using an Uncle Mikes pocket holster (size 4). The holster works fine, but it will come out of my pocket and with the weapon sometimes. I'm fairly certain that with more practice this will no longer be an issue, but are there any modifications I can do to the holster to help keep it in place?

Thank you all very much in advance.

Try spraying the inside of the holster with silicone spray.

DO NOT get any on the outside though!!!

You can also try applying a couple three or four layers of blue masking tape to the gun over night for a while to stretch the holster a little.

I am liking no holster and a cover item of some sort to break the outline up. A soft IWB holster that I keep my snubby in is being used now and I like the set-up. ;) BTW IDWTH any dissent :)

No pocket holster is an invatation to a dirty gun full of pocket lint.

And a Plaxico Burress moment if you scratch your itch wrong.

Use a holster.

** DISCLAIMER ** Never done this before

With that out of the way, why not smear a bit of silicone caulk (clear or perhaps black to match your holster) on either side of the outside of the holster. This should give a bit more "grab" helping the holster to stay in the pocket. The USMC Silent Drill Team uses this trick on their white gloves to assist with manipulating the rifles used during their chow, I don't see why it wouldn't work for you as well.

A small piece of the hook side of velcro on the away from your body side of the holster. Be aware though, that continual drawing (practice) will wear out your pockets faster. Or, so I've heard.

Skateboard tape is a good way to ruin pants.;)

If you ask me, you may want to reconsider packing in the front pocket. In most "stick-em-up" scenarios one might consider compliantly presenting your favorite pistol from the back pocket ... your wallet pocket.

Makes perfect sense to me, and without all of the problems associated with the desired snag-free presentation from a front pocket. To wit:

I've carried my Colt Mustang exclusively in a wallet holster for years and have never looked back.

Thank you all for the advice. Ive loosened the holster by overstuffing it over-night and have practiced drawing with hand in/out of pocket. YMMV, but I've had great success by pushing the holster against my thigh while drawing.

In the near future i may apply silicone spray to the inside of the holster. I also remember reading somewhere that loose fitting, large, rubberbands over the holster helps too.

I agree with the DeSantis Nemesis comment above. I've carried a j-frame for years with this holster and have never had it come out with the firearm. As a matter of fact, getting the holster out of my pocket when I WANT it out is difficult. I also recall that there is an improved version out there. Nemesis with a DAO hammerless j-frame is a nifty combo.

Is the DeSantis Nemisis. Reasonably priced and stays in place.
Ditto on the DeSantis Nemisis versus the Uncle Mike's pocket holster.

For the Uncle Mike's, clean the gripping surface to remove any oil or grease (use any household cleaning spray) and spray the inside with silicone spray as others have suggested.
