I guess this would be my fist .22 rifle, I have been shooting big bore blackpowder guns and shotguns until I decided a good .22 would be what I need to fill the void in my gun collection. It's a very pretty rifle, holds 14 rounds of .22 LR in the tube magazine or 21 rounds of .22 short. It's actually pretty accurate with that peep sight, I've been wanting to learn how to shoot peep sights for a long time so having them on this gun is great! It's not super fast to acquire the sight picture, but then again I'm just doing target shooting (And maybe the occasional rabbit) with it. My dad loves shooting with it too, I don't have to load cap, powder, and ball for him. I love the aged look!

As for the group, this was nine shots. I think I did well at about 25 feet. Ammo used was Winchester Super X.

Funny you should mention this 'cause in my experience I'm usually faster with a peep sight than most other configurations. I follow the method detailed in this video, it might help you, too.

And that's a lovely rifle. I've always had a certain affinity for tube magazines, makes me think of the old west, lol.

I have the 512-X with the screw-adjustable notch/blade sights... I wish I could find one of those rear peeps somewhere :banghead:

Wow, that really helped! Thanks for that link! I just shouldered it up and put my eye closer to the sight, and it really made a difference. And here I though I had to make it tiny, no wonder I was having trouble seeing the front blade!

I have been shooting notch-n-blade sights for as long as I can remember, so peep sights are kinda new to me. Them being on my first .22 rifle was kinda strange, but now that I know that little trick I bet I'll be able to stack them neatly in the ten ring.

I love the fact that my rifle holds 14 or 21 rounds. Even if I'm in California, the "You can't have it" state I can still have a tube magazine. I was going to get a 10/22, but I fell in love with this rifle instead. My mom is really into antiques, so naturally she's been wanting to shoot this rifle given the age and the beauty. Plus it's a Remington, my favorite gun manufacturer! :D
