I wrote a review of the Skorpion vz 61 machine pistol over at my Michigan Firearms Examiner column. I got a chance to try a post-86 Dealer Sample awhile back. I included a video of a pretty girl shooting the gun. I could have had a video of me, but thought you'd like her better...

The Skorpion vz 61 provides compact firepower

"The Skorpion vz61 is an interesting little buzz-gun that first achieved notoriety in real-life use and later found renewed fame in movies, TV shows, and video games.

The weapon was designed in then-Communist Czechoslovakia in the late 1950’s as a specialized weapon for elite troops. The gun was later more widely issued to soldiers who could not easily carry rifles as a more effective substitute for a handgun. "

Thanks for reminding me that I want one of these(the semi-auto obv). Not sure why but it just seems like something cool to have.

I was looking on Czechpoint's website and I saw they are offering it in .380 now. Do you know anything about that?

Thanks for the link Trebor.
Pretty nice, and the gun was too.

Wish the semi's had been around before '86. That gun has always been on my wish list.
There are probably a few around on form 4s but I'm sure they'd sell beyond my budget.

I'm still hoping someone - like Racine Joe - will make a .32ACP conversion kit for the Uzi.
A lot less recoil than the 9mm with a KO factor well above the .22LR.

The perfect blackjack gun!

I don't know anything about the .380 versions, sorry. I've actually only ever fired the full-auto version. I've handled the semi-autos, but they don't seem like they'd be as much fun unless you SBR them and use the stock. As a pistol, they seem "meh" to me.

I first noticed the Skorpion in the 1966 Small Arms of the World. They do make an interesting appearance in the movie The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest.

The shoot was here in Knoxville (well, nearby in the county). Lots of interesting firearms.

Yeah, it was a FANTASTIC shoot. (I'd love to get invited back someday...)

Best Skorpion was the ones used in Matrix, that somehow used .32ACP mags but fired .223 ammo. ;)
The brand new .380 Skorps are nifty - I understand they may be available in 9mmMak as well. The frame isn't made for 9mm LUger, from what I'm told, but it should handle the Makarov round.
I'd heard they were originally designed for tankers, to give them something they could shoot infantry off the tank with...why .32ACP, though...weird choice.
