My run in with an Anti at work

I'm sorry, I don't have a 30-06 yet, but I promise, as soon as I have a few hundred extra dollars, I'll pick up a shiny Garand, 'cause darned if they aren't awesome guns. I don't know any anti's where I work. One of the guys I work with is in the Guards and he and one of the cute servers like to talk about machine guns and stuff. I know a few non-shooters but noone is anti.

College was a bit different. The school was in a rural area, which helped, but still some GFW's worked their way in. My favorite response the "You're just compensating for your "inadequacy"" is "Well, yeah, I need to buy guns to compensate for my inadequate gun collection." They just glare at me. Or GFW - "Why do you need a gun?"
Me - "I need a gun to shoot stuff. How else will stuff get shot?"
GFW - "Well, why does stuff need to get shot?"
Me - "Well, you don't learn marksmanship by NOT shooting stuff, do you?"
GFW - "Why do you need to learn marksmanship?"
Me - "So I can hit what I aim at."
GFW - "Why do you need to hit what you aim at?"
Me - "Not hitting what I aim at sounds a little dangerous. What if I missed the target and hit a little girl instead? Are you advocating that people use guns in an unsafe and dangerous manner?
GFW - "Um, well, no, but.."
Me - "Then I need to shoot stuff and for that, I need a gun."
Usually at that point the person gives up and walks away.

I figure every good American should own a .30-06.

I got nothing against that round, it ain't too 'spensive, and it gets the job done.

But with all the MilSurps I have inherited/bought, I can't justify getting an M1 or 03A3 anytime soon.

Does owning a Model '98 Krag and a Series 70 Govt Model make up for not having the Garand and '03?

The Garand is on my short C&R list, but I have no reason whatsoever to get an '03A3.

Damn, I own two weapons that chamber 7.62x54R and one that chambers 7.62x49. Startin to feel a little unpatriotic. Oh well. I would own an M16A2 if I could, (that's what I was issued,) but Diane FeinStalin and Herr Lockyer won't even let me have a decent AR.

As a school teacher, I deal with this crap all of the time but sometimes you find a shooter where you least expect it.

I was chatting with one of our security folks one day and I knew that he was a retired police officer so I started asking about what they carried when he was working, etc. Turns out he's an avid shooting enthusiast.
