My second amendment tattoo

Thanks everyone for all of the great responses and inspiration.

A few of you are asking "why the sks," well the SKS was my first rifle (apart from my 10/22), I now own 2 skses. I understand getting something American, the M-14 was what I first considered, but I decided to get what I own, and an SKS would look a lot better than a 10/22 haha. It all comes down to personal preferance. (and dont worry guys, this will be my first ink, but I'm positive it wont be the last!)

Aaron, very cool tattoos. I like the AK on your arm quite a bit, where did you get those done?

Old pin-ups can be really cool, and IMO, very very american.

I have it narrowed down to "Molon Labe," and "From My Cold Dead Hands." I'm seeing a lot of tattoos through google that have one of those 2 quotes, so to me its kind of a unifying thing.

I'd sat go American. MIA or Garand. Other than that, you pretty much know what you want. We gotta see it when you're done you know.

You could also have the rifles crossed with a rattlesnake coiled around them, but still similar enough to the DTOM design to be recognizable. Then the wording could go however you wanted it,like in a tattered banner wrapping around the picture and through the rifles.

Mine were done in Centerville, IA by a guy named Curt at Octopus Ink.

He does a dang good job and work very reasonably.

The AK tattoo cost me $150. The Statue of Liberty was $110. The Molon Labe was $75. You can easily see at his rates why I am planning more work....

Once you get a tattoo then you can make your gun match...

As of right now, I plan on getting 2 Sks's crossed, with a banner on the top and bottom, the top will say "RKBA" and I dont know what I want the bottom to say...

Any ideas? Quotes.... anything?
----------------------------------------------------------------

Just a thought, perhaps a musket (Revolutionary War Era) crossed with an AR on stars and stripes (13 or 50 star). For the quote....."STILL PROTECTING FREEDOM".
Good luck and post pics of the final work.

I had Brion (sic) Norwalk do my tattoo about 10 years ago. He does awesome work. He's a hell of a guitar player, too. If you see him, ask him if he's done anything with his band, Descendent. They were a huge (in the midwest) death metal band in the mid-90's. I'm thinking of getting one of mine covered up with a RKBA tattoo. It's fading really bad. It's my fault though, too much sun...and no one told me not to go out drinking the night before you get a tattoo. I guess the alcohol thins your blood just enough that you bleed the color right out.:banghead: Good luck, IA is a top notch studio.

although it wouldnt be a smart choice, i did find this entertaining.

Wow. Chestpiece as a first tattoo? That's tough. Doing the chest hurts a LOT :D. Trust me on this.
And yes, we want pictures when its done.
As for ideas, well, it's 2.32 in the morning, so I ain't very creative right now.

/The Viking, carrying quite a lot of ink under his skin :)

The chest does hurt, I have a pretty detailed eagle over my heart. I love it though. I am also contemplating a second one, and after reading this I may have to add a third. Perhaps a shoulder pc with a rifle with "Si vis pacem para bellum". ............................. My wife is going to kill me! :)

As much coverage as it gets here, why not put " Molon Labe" on the bottom, but use the Greek spelling, like they have for the car window stickers, in that thread floating around here somewhere.

The one in my sig.

My girls back is almost done.

I have not decided what I want yet.
I love the loading screens on a lot of ww2 games. Might find some ideas there.

about the only tattoos i've ever liked were real small ones down by a woman's bikini line or on her ankle.......................

Here's a couple of suggestions for your 2nd banner:

"Live Free or Die"

or

"Liberty or Death" (from Patrick Henry's famous speech :) )

"Give me liberty or give me death" is a famous quotation from a speech made by Patrick Henry to the Virginia House of Burgesses.

The speech was given March 23, 1775, at St. John's Church in Richmond, Virginia, and is credited with having single-handedly convinced the Virginia House of Burgesses to pass a resolution delivering the Virginia troops to the Revolutionary War. In attendance were Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. Reportedly, the crowd, upon hearing the speech, jumped up and shouted, "To Arms! To Arms!"

Collateral ink can be very addicting, just avoid impulse tats. I have a few on my forearms I wish I could get rid of, I will work them into my sleeves down the line. What part of MI are you from? Maybe we can hit the range.

Aaronrkelly is that Zipgravers work on your guns? I was thinking about sending my G19 to him for work. Those are some great prices for the ink you have.

Here are some ideas. I feel I have the courage to defend myself and my folks from harm but as for having someone draw a picture on me with a needle....yeah I've gotta get over that first :(

So far all I could find were the Read Baron images, I'll keep looking.

Yep, Zipgraver did both my guns.....his prices are even better than my tattoo artist....dont get me wrong, I like low prices but these guy are true artists and are worth twice what they are charging.

Go with Zipgraver, you wont be disappointed. Hes professional, damn good and fast......

One should be wary when it comes to inexpensive tattoos...the rule "A cheap tattoo ain't good, and a good tattoo aint cheap" is often true...but sometimes you are lucky... I've got two that were quite cheap. And they ain't good. Going to cover em up. Starting with the first (and the smallest one). It'll probably hurt like hell, since there is a bunch of scar tissue in it. Bloody scratchers should be shot.
