Interesting, (to me at least) how painting the stock black, and adding a 20 rd mag, changed its "persona". Wonder what a Winc. 94 would look like black?
Just kidding around. It is a reference to my recent thread about un-Bubba'ing an SKS. All kidding aside, I'm for folks doing what makes them happy and even if it isn't my thing I can appreciate a job well done and a good result.
It's funny, I've been shooting the SKS on and off for the better part of 25 years, and way back then I would have killed to have a detachable mag and all of the toys for one that we have today. But, now that we have all of that, I find that I prefer the rifle in its original configuration, and have spent extra money to achieve that. Go figure.
And yes, the Yugo is nose heavy to begin with. When I did the TAPCO thing with my Yugo I made matters worse by adding a tri-rail handguard that threw the gun way, way off balance. Had I taken off that handguard I still might have that rifle today. I'm not sure how the TAPCO affected the balance so the OP's rifle with the original painted stock my be much better than mine was.
I have a Yugo M59 (no launcher/gas cut-off switch), and didn't know how it compares with other Yugos or the Russians which it is more like. Mag conversions? Collectibility? It has matching #'s and some stock markings (name, three dots). Thanks!
