This is a follow up to the thread I created regarding custom work for my Cimarron Model P, located here:

If you read the thread, you will see that Ryan from Hill Country Precision Gunsmithing generously offered to pay for shipping both ways and perform an action job on the revolver for free. I gladly took him up on his offer.
While Ryan had the gun, I also discussed changing out the sights for something more usable, such as the wider front blade and rear notch that comes on the upgraded Evil Roy model (and also mimics the sights Ruger is putting on their Vaquero/New Vaquero). He said he would be glad to do it, and I gave him the green light to perform the work.
I received the gun back last week. Cocking the hammer straight out of the box I was amazed at the smooth and effortless action. The trigger pull was very nice as well, light but not too light, and crisp. The sights were also very nicely done. He widened the rear notch by hand (so I understand) and combined with the slightly wider front blade, it made for a much easier to acquire sight picture.
I must have cocked the hammer hundreds of times that first hour I had the gun in hand. I just could not get over how nice it felt, and there's nothing like the sound of those four clicks as the cylinder rolls over. Had a big grin on my face the whole time.
That afternoon I took the gun out to the range for a test fire. The sights were so much more usable than before, easy to see against different backgrounds, and in varying light. For those of you struggling with the standard narrow v-notch rear sights on Colt clones, I highly recommend this sight upgrade. Between the new sights and the slick, effortless action, the gun was 100 times more enjoyable to shoot than before.
This gun has a little "history" behind it as well. Last year my house was broken into and I had quite a few guns stolen, including this Cimarron. The Cimarron was the ONLY gun the police recovered. They found it under the bumper of a suspect's SUV who had been arrested for a gun shop burglary a couple of weeks after mine. It had some dings and scratches on it, but overall it was still in excellent shape considering where it had lived since being taken from my home. I have no intention of having the gun refinished, or having any of these cosmetic imperfections taken out. To me, they are just part of the story of the gun.
