I just had to share this...

My wife has never liked guns, despite growing up in Maine, and having all her brothers and uncles hunt regularly. When I was getting re-started in this hobby, she disapproved. In December, when we were picking gifts for others, I pointed out a nice LL Bean cleaning kit. She said "Your Dad had BETTER not be giving you a gun for Christmas".

She has always said "There will be NO GUNS in this house".

Christmas passes (no guns :p) and my birthday arrives in mid January. To my suprise, my Dad meets me at the local gun shop and orders me a nice Ruger 77/22. :D I tell Molly, who says, "Well, I'm glad that you are excited about it."

We have a birthday party today with some family, and guess what she got me?

1. A shooting bag (like a range bag)
2. Shooting safety glasses with interchangeable lenses
3. The very cleaning kit I had pointed out in December. :D

I am stunned, amazed, and delighted. She says she trusts me, loves me, and wants me to be safe. It's not as good as having a wife who asks you what caliber gift you want this year, but it's a start. :)

She still says no guns in the house, but I think I can work on that. ;)

Happy Birthday dude! :)

Yep ... patience ... patience .... sounds tho like you have the ball just slightly rolling ..... just a matter of time until full acceptance.

Obviously - a good woman .... but one who can (I hope) become a gun-loving GREAT woman ....... :p

Awesome! The groundwork is there, that's everything important. I'm sure you two will work out the specifics of what goes where in time.

Offer her a deal, she gets to buy something indulgent every time you get a 'gun' thing.

Before you know it, you'll have her at the range with you (probally shooting better scores, life's funny sometimes! :)

Women are confusing. My wife has always told me that I don not need any more firearms, and she would not approve of me getting one...then turns around and tells me to buy one for Christmas:scrutiny:

Her only stipulation is that she got to shoot it whenever she wants

I made the proper husband response of "Yes Dear" and went and ordered a Para LDA :D

Unfortunatly the 45 has to much recoil for her, she has weak wrists. So guess what? Now I have to find a 9mm for her. Things are looking up.

Hi, I don't go for that No____ (fill in the blank )in this house crap ! Change the lock , set her out the door and get on with your life ! Life is to short to put up with partners like that !!! WVleo
PS Hope the wife isn't reading this LOL LOL

Talk her into a safe ASAP Work on idea it can hold camera, jewlry, important papers, the rifle (which will get lonely for a pistol) :) How this will make the house more safe with high dollar items out of sight. IMO she sounds like well worth the time/effort to keep.
