My wife has always been a little anti-gun. She enjoys shooting whenever I take her, but she disapproves of me adding to my collection. I have suspected for a while now that she acts like that just to get a rise out of me, but that is a diffrent story altogether.
Recently, things have started to change for the better. First, my grandpa gave me his gun collection, which was an additional 10 rifles. All my wife said to me was that I had to buy a safe, which was perfectly fine with me as I had been wanting to get one anyways. Then for Christmas came the next big suprise, she told me to buy mself a SD pistol! I happily obliged her and got a Para-Ord P14 LDA.
I am soon deploying to Iraq and had hoped that she would keep my pistol loaded and accesible when I was gone, but it seems that the recoil from the 45 is to much for her. She has wrist problems and her wrists were bruised after one range session. She doesn't even want to consider using my pistol.
Which brings me to my next surprise. Yesterday I asked her if she would be more inclined to keep a loaded pistol around if she had her own pistol, she got a look of pure joy on her face and said that yes she would! So I did a little resaerch on 9mm pistols and showed her a picture of a Springfield XD. Her first impression was very positive. Today we are off to the range where she can rent one to try out.
If she likes it, I am going to forgo the spray-on liner for my truck bed so that I can get her the pistol. Who knows, I may make a gun junkie out of her yet
