I just had to share this...
My wife has never liked guns, despite growing up in Maine, and having all her brothers and uncles hunt regularly. When I was getting re-started in this hobby, she disapproved. In December, when we were picking gifts for others, I pointed out a nice LL Bean cleaning kit. She said "Your Dad had BETTER not be giving you a gun for Christmas".
She has always said "There will be NO GUNS in this house".
Christmas passes (no guns ) and my birthday arrives in mid January. To my suprise, my Dad meets me at the local gun shop and orders me a nice Ruger 77/22. I tell Molly, who says, "Well, I'm glad that you are excited about it."
We have a birthday party today with some family, and guess what she got me?
1. A shooting bag (like a range bag)
2. Shooting safety glasses with interchangeable lenses
3. The very cleaning kit I had pointed out in December.
I am stunned, amazed, and delighted. She says she trusts me, loves me, and wants me to be safe. It's not as good as having a wife who asks you what caliber gift you want this year, but it's a start.
She still says no guns in the house, but I think I can work on that.
