My wife told me the other day that she just can't understand why I need so many guns. She says I have enough guns already. When I pointed out some of the other things that she didn't understand (quantum physics, bicycle repair, etc.) she got mad at me.I don't understand why.:)

Wayne,
A male's need for guns is similar to a female's need for clothes, shoes or makeup. A person just never has enough and there are always bargins to find and it is our mission in life to find those bargins.

This drive, if unsatisfied, can cause severe mental issues, therefore I suggest buying another gun NOW to avoid the mental anguish that may be building in your subconscious. If the unsatisfied drive becomes to great for your subconscious to handle you could just snap. Preventive maintenance is a good thing.;)

I only have a few guns but...

My wife has 33 pairs of shoes, sneakers, boots ect...ect...

Her reasoning is she has two feet.:scrutiny:

The last time we had the "One more gun" talk, I said, "Don't I have two hands ?":neener:

Browning BPS 10 gage now in safe ! :D

I have been to this movie before too.

For my wife, its purses. Lucky for me, even though she gets a new one every couple of month, she usually does not buy expensive ones. Anywhere from 30-60 bucks, which isnt bad.

I get the "you have enough guns" routine everytime I complain that my safe is literally over flowing and is preventing me from buying any more guns until I buy a larger one.

The good news is that she is taking a ladies only beginner shooting class tomorrow and has been talking about doing some sort of competition such as IDPA...relief may be on the horizon. Hang in there troops.

Next time, try taking her along and buy her a gun for a change. Get her into shooting. Perhaps she will ease up a bit. My other half likes to shoot but usually she gets what she wants first even if it isn't a gun. This year the required wife gun tax was that I had to build her a new pc with all the bells and whistles. AMD Athlon 64 3500/512mb DDR400/Gigabyte MB/350W PS\ Nvidia Geforce 5500 256mb. That thing will scream. She's now happily drinking coffee and playing her online games in her own little blissful world and today I get to head to Little Rock to the gunshow and look for something that will keep me happy.......for a while. Oh, she's already put her order in for next time. A widescreen flat panel hdtv....All I can say is,"yes dear"

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I take her to the gunshows/gunshops with me. She always enjoys herself and gets to discover new things.

My wife wants to buy me a WWII issued 1911. She loves look, thinks I would like it to go with my M1 Garand. How can I stop her? She won't stop doing nice things for me.

Thats funny right there

I mostly get understood... However sometimes, I have to resort to placing the blame elsewhere. I just say "Look at what GOD made me do!" :scrutiny:

The only answer

:D Even my 8 and 11-year olds knows the answer to "How many guns to you need"?

The answer has been drilled into heir heads. The answer is not to be questioned. Spock would be proud of the logic. The Truth is universal.

THE answer is "One more".:D

Both of my wives and my current long term girlfriend have asked similar
questions. Now I've got a good answer instead of getting divorced.
"One More" I love it, but I doubt she will. I'm getting ready to find out.

Nope, she failed to see the humor.

Haha. They seldom do. When my EX asked me why I collected guns instead of say, jewelry. I just told her that if she felt so uncomfortable about them then I could sell them and take up collecting antique bed pans. She was not amused.

Why not just get a SECOND safe??? :D   :scrutiny:

I'm 20, and still living with my parents, so instead of a wife nagging me about my gun collection, I have a mother do to that.

That said, I told her that in a couple years, I plan to buy a Colt SAA, and she automatically said she didn't want a handgun in the house. She said she's okay with the rifles and shotguns, but for some reason doesn't want a handgun. She's naive and liberal when it comes to guns, so I'm thinking she automatically connects handguns to crime and violence. I really don't want to wait until I move out to buy one. Starting with a SAA as my first handgun, I really want all the practice shooting time I can get.

If you have enough guns then she has enough clothes.

She doesn't have to understand. Just explain that if you are being otherwise financially responsible (you ARE, right? :scrutiny: ), then it makes you happy, and you would hope that the result pleases her. Just make sure that she also has a hobby that she can indulge (even clothes, shoes, etc. are good enough).

redloki, if that's all she wanted in that PC, you got off light. No dual-core? No SLI videocards?

wife does not understand

and why worry about it? My wife does not understand me either, but I don't let that stand in the way of buying a new gun when I want one. On the other hand, I don't understand why she needs 50+ antique Cameos either. I don't 'go there'...........

Wayne,
I see you are in Boca. I'm in Coral Springs. We have a great IPSC club at Markham park and would love to have you join us. We shoot every Thursday night 7 to 9:30. Also, there is a steel only shoot comming up Sunday Feb 26. Its about as much fun and you can have with a gun. If you haven't tried it you owe it to yourself to get out there. Let me know if you got any questions.
Steve

Easy answer there. Twenty-two year olds are men, and make their own decisions.

Mostly, too, they don't still live with their mommies.

Make plans to start your own life now. You'll have no problems being there in "a couple years."

:)

People confuse "need" with "want".

You need very little but you want a lot.

After your needs are met, get what you want.

The only justification called for is, "I want it and I can afford it".:)

I'm in the same boat. Except I'm 18 & my mom hates all guns. I just don't talk to her about it.

I prefer to look at it as mom lives with me (and I can get away with that excuse too cause she is disabled)

She don't mind...and the things she does mind she knows better then to bother.

They can be an investment

There are few things that hold their value as well as guns. I gave my $88.88 Ruger .44 carbine to my nephew's youngest son. Older brother got my $158 BAR. I'm guessing I could have gotten a bit more on the open market.

Try THAT with shoes or purses.

That's the Limit

You're just going to have to get tough with her, s.
