I'm just getting done trimming the meat. I guess I'll pack it and put it in the freezer tomorrow evening when I get off work.

She missed a doe from the same stand yesterday and took off of work early today in search of redemption. We figured out a couple days ago that our two person stand isn't quite a "two adults stand", so I was laying prone on the ground at the base of it. I was glassing the far end of the powerline when she shot. It really rattled my brain and it took me a minute to figure out what was happening. When I looked up I thought she was going to fall out of the stand. She dancing and laughing like a child.

The deer was a mature doe in the hundred pound range. She dropped her with a perfect neck shot from Browning A-Bolt .308 at a distance of 87 yards. I guess it's officially her gun now. Guess I'll have to learn to love my CZ 550 .308 for sure.

I've always been kind of a selfish hunter. Always the first to shoot. The last to pass on a deer that is headed to someone else's stand. I was actually a little angry that she chose to that stand today on my only day off, but the joy I felt watching her kneel over her trophy erased those feelings. I actually killed a doe that was traveling with my wife's deer a few moments later. For me it was just another deer. For her it was an accomplishment three years in the making.

It was a special day and I'm glad she beat me to the stand. Maybe I'll give it up without a fight next time.

I got my girlfriend interested in hunting 3 years ago this season. She's about as lucky as they come, killing a doe on her FIRST TRIP WITH A GUN. She had set with me once or twice during muzzle loading, but when rifle started she wanted to go.

She didn't kill anything last year, but shot a nice little button buck this year. She's still got a few more days to bag another one or two.

After seeing her shoot, and others like your wife, I'm almost 100% sure that they could out shoot, out hunt, and out smart us AND the deer in the woods. I know I wouldn't mess with my lady when she's holding a rifle.

Gratz to her, I'm glad to see women getting into the sport. It's something else watching them down a deer...
