Been going thru the knife drawer, practicing my sharpening skills where needed, and thought I'd take a pic of the blades I actually use. So here's the gang....
workingblades.gif

Of course, top left is the Sharpfinger that I hope everyone has enjoyed the telling of as much as me. Below that...

My pretty much EDC, a CRKT M16. I've abused it, neglected it, even lost it in my recliner for several months. Still sharpens quick and holds an edge well enough that it doesn't let me down. Below that...

A CRKT Mirage. If I'm not carrying the M16 this one is in my pocket. I carry it at work since the big folder clipped to my pants causes questions. Took the clip off this one so I can just slip it in a pocket. I have to be honest, it took a while to get used to that blade, but it's one of my all time favorites now, wish they offered the M16 in it. And below that....

A CRKT Rollock. Actually my wife's knife, I don't like it, weird action, but the wife loves it. I can't get the thing opened or closed without damned near cutting my finger off, but she does it so smooth it's like an auto. I will say this, the blade holds an edge longer than either of my CRKT's. And to it's right.....

An Uncle Henry Stockman. Nothing special about it other than the fact that everyone should have one. I can shave with any of those blades and between the 3 I can always find the right edge for the job at hand. Secret Santa got me this one a few years back and I've used it to take the place of the very old Shrade Stockman I was carrying. Now for the 2 mutts in the group.....

First above the stockman is a United Cutlery somethng or other. Won this at the state fair many moons ago throwing darts or rings or something. I know, the first thing that pops into my mind when I hear United is some 2 foot long shiny thing with spikes and skulls and skulls with spikes on it. Left it in its box for several years and didn't think much of it. Then one day got it out and put a different edge on it than the hachet edge it came with. It shocked me, Holds an edge forever and makes one heck of a little skinner. All stainless, so clean-up is easy too. And above that....

Yes, another United, bought probably 15 years ago to replace the previously mentioned Schrade Stockman. It's what we always called a "corn razor". I was looking for something that would be easy to clean. Made a great skinner, but the lack of a good point was a handicap at times. This one is actually made in Japan from UC323, whatever that means. One thing it means is that it will get and stay nasty sharp in a hurry. It's my main whittler, apple peeler, leather cutter and utility knife.

Anyhow, that's my mob of knives that actually see use. Just felt like sharing.

John, I hope when you lost the CRKT in the recliner, you at least had the decency to have the blade closed.:)

Blade was closed, but it was gone for about 6 months. Looked everywhere for the danged thing. Finally called it gone and bought the Mirage. Of course about a week after that I was moving the recliner and the knife fell out. Dirty, a big gouge in the scale, but still sharp and ready to go. And that's why I can't buy an expensive knife, no telling where I'll leave the thing.

I'll tell you... for a bunch of years, I carried a SAK and frequently misplaced it. Once I got a Benchmade, I always knew where it was. Part of it was keeping it clipped to a pocket. Part of it was not wanting to lose something 'expensive'.

I did the same thing with sunglasses. When I was wearing cheapo versions from Walgreens, I'd lose or break them a couple time a summer. I finally bought a good pair of Revos and I've had them ever since. They're still in great shape. A huge part of that is that I know what I'd have to pay to replace them. I take better care of them and I always know where they are.

My user knives would be similar.
Case Medium Stockman, yellow and CV.
Kershaw Sapphire, Benchmade Vex, CRKT M16.
RR Congress.
Case Sodbuster Jr.
And various SAKs

Nice group.Love the stockman, I don't have any Uncle Henrys. Gotta finish of my Old Timer accumulation first, that should take a few years.

That Corn Razor is rad. I am going to add that to the ever-growing list of knives I would like to own and will keep on the lookout for...

I bought a corn razor once, an antique Henckel. Got it on eBay. It was advertised as a regular straight razor.

When it came, I couldn't figure out what it was since the blade was so short and not as sharp as other straight razors, finally figured it out after joining an online razor group.

Don't use it though, don't have any corns, besides, it has ivory scales. Too nice for my feet anyways.

My granny had a corn razor, scales were shaped just like a barlow, had the big razor shaped blade and then the smaller blade of a Barlow. She kept it in her garden apron pocket, used it to cut corn (not the ones on her feet), mators and the like. Wonder if grandpa still has that around, I'd like to know if it was a real Barlow.
