ok Kari is hot .......... Very Hot. but Am I the only one watching
6000 rounds of 308 cut down a couple trees and wondering ,.
can i get that brass? or better yet the live ammo?

I thought the best gun episode was when they fired into the pool. I was shocked at how quickly the bullets ripped apart.

I've always wondered about the shooting into water, I wonder if their results would have different if they had fired straight down into the water then at an angle.

Guys,

Praising the Gun Geek Queen is all well and good, but keep it above the locker room level if you feel you have to comment at all.

The minigun... I would love to have one of those mounted on my vehicle.

Latest issue of Dillon's Blue Press said their miniguns (which I believe are used on Mythbusters) were now available for sale to "collectors"...

Just remembered a few more:

- Shooting locks
- Meat bullet
- Is a bullet fired straight up into the air lethal when if falls back down
- Shooting the rope to free the hangman
- Shooting the floor out from under you to escape danger

Yeah, I'd say the MBs appear to be pretty pro gun!

Loud-mouth, that sounds nasty. Since the P-38 carried 150 rounds of 20mm, it's quite fortunate the other 149 didn't do any damage. Too bad for the bloke who caught the one, though.

Catfish, as I said it's not really a myth, but it would be entertaining to see under controlled circumstances.

It's not that they are pro-gun, it's just that there are a tremendous number of myths around guns.

But, they test the myths in an unbiased manner. No asinine comments about how "this is only good for killing people" or "crime would be so low if these things were banned," nor stupid macho posturing that make gun owners look bad. They get qualified consultants for the firearm tests, and follow their advice and safety instructions. They show that firearms can be both entertaining and safe.

Actually, they were using a .40 Glock in that experiment. The nararator was correct in saying that the bullet fired was bigger than the chamber of the revolver, just mispoke on the actual size. The sergeant involved clarifed that on ARFCOM, IIRC.
Thanks for that info!

Mythbusters just gained that credit back :D

They got on my nerves when they kept calling a Garand a Grand. They did finaly get it stright. Now they always call it a Garand.

What about when they shot the truck tire trying to make it explode like on the freeway. Jamie is a decent shot.

I like the fact that they can laugh at themselves in regards to the gun myths. They always talk about how they're going to hear from the fans about what they did wrong.

Also, no one mentioned the weirdest gun related myth they busted. They recreated a myth where a Confederate soldier was shot through the "sack" and the bullet went on to strike a female in the abdomen, and then got pregnant from the transferred sperm.

Some others not mentioned include "blowing up a barrel by sticking your finger in it", "catching a bullet with your teeth", and "can you shoot directly into one of the chambers of a revolver and cause it to jam".

I would like to see them do a runaway machine gun. A quick search of the forums revealed that this has already been suggested.

As a soldier, I've heard stories of runaway M60s but I've never seen it happen myself. Even though it's not really a myth, it would be interesting to see if Adam and Jamie could get one to do it.

I witnessed an M240B "run away" but never an M60. This was an almost brand new M240B and it seems the gun sheared some part of the bolt or bolt carrier (I'm not an armorer) off causing it to "rock and roll" till the assistant gunner twisted the ammunition belt causing the links to snap and stop the show. From what little I was told this machine gun was flown back stateside ASAP to be studied. The gunner and assistant gunner looked spooked after the incident but the chain of command seemed pretty impressed they kept their cool and followed the correct steps to avoid any injuries. This was during a training mission not actual firefight.

Guess I am the only one here who never has cared for MB. Something about the two main hosts bothers me. I am not sure what it is, I just don't like watching that show for more than 30 seconds at a time. Sorry to rain on the parade...

My parade isn't rained upon at all. I enjoy the show because it can be funny. The hosts are goof-balls but not over-the-top. And, though methodology stinks, some of their conclusions could easily be confirmed in a more structured way. But, it wouldn't be all that fun to watch.

Smash Lab, on the other hand, is insanely stupid. They pick the most idiotic ways to re-invent the wheel and end up with solutions that could never, ever work in the real-world.

Can't watch smash lab. Way too long on the setup times and nuances of the experiment as opposed to making something and doing it. And yeah, MB is not for everyone, just like some people watch Reality shows and others (me) can't stand them. All personal preference so no worries Light.

Me, all I watch lately is CSI Vegas on Spike. I don't even watch the history channel like I used too anymore

Jamie and Adam can be quite weird. Sometimes I half expect them to start making out or something.

The History channel just doesn't seem as good as it did before.

I think the real question here is how long it takes for California to pass a law against Mythbusters gun testing. Surely they can find some reason to take away their "arsenal".....

A good friend of mine who's in the army had what he called a "running gun" with an FN MAG at their firing range. It can definitely happen.

Why? They don't have anything that's illegal in CA. They get the full auto type stuff from the law enforcement types and shoot at their ranges. Now the full auto show with the .50 Dillon and cutting down trees, they hopped on over to AZ. Besides, Hollywood gets some special exemptions in CA regarding weapons when it comes to filming movies. I guess something similar would apply to TV/cable shows, too.
