wrong again......show up at a fun range where everyone is shooting black powder with your AK....and see what happens.....get a clue.....

unfortunately, do not own an AK.. I prefer my AR, but I see the point you are trying to make anyhow... however it is not really valid seeing as there is a large difference between a black power rifle and an AK/AR and a shotgun is essentially a shotgun.. your argument would be sound if using a pistol at a rifle range, rifle at a pistol range, pistol at a shotgun range, rifle at a shotgun range, shotgun at a pistol range, shotgun at a rifle range, BP rifle at a pistol range, BP at a shotgun range, I wouldnt mind a BP rifle at my local rifle range (its a rifle) a firearm at a bow range or a bow at a firearm range... etc

but taking a shotgun to a shotgun range.. that is splitting hairs.

perhaps if it was a punt gun at a shotgun range i would see your point...

no, it's not.....a BP rifle and an AK or AR do NOT belong on the same course of fire, yet they're both rifles.......neither does a HD PGO and a 32" target gun shooting clays......THAT'S my point

I spent years shooting trap and sporting clays with a Remington 870 Wingmaster. Besides the extended tube and the pistol grip, there really isn't much difference in the guns (lets not forget choke tubes and patterns though, big difference there).

It's a shame you have to deal with such narrow minded folk at the range. I now have a Mossberg 500 with a home defense barrel but I put my longer, vent-rib barrel with choke tubes on the gun for my trap and skeet sessions now, much more accurate that way.

LOL, I was going to make a pretty good post, but I got so busy reporting posts that I lost my train of thought.

Honestly, are the "moron" "mall ninja" etc.. necessary?

I've shot trap with my 590, ghost ring sights and all.
In fact, I did better than the guy next to me with the plain jane 24" barreled shotgun.

Did I get dirty looks? No, because the people there weren't being pretentious about hardware.

Same reason small drag strips will have open nights where two guys in Mini vans can do 20 seconds quarter miles.

Is an Astrovan a drag racer? No way.

Are they having fun? You bet.

If I were Tai Chi, I'd go over those other member's heads.
As long as he is being safe, there is no problem.

Heres the deal. Many gun ranges (rifle) have separate ranges for pistol, as you cant shoot a 911 on a Rifle range because its not a long gun and more dangerous as such. Your shotgun (normally a long gun) is not and is akin to being a pistol, hence not allowed on many ranges. Im actually surprised the range let you out with one. Most I know of require at least 22 inches of barrel. One I know of requires a shoulder stock as well.

You dont plow snow with a Corvette. Unfortunately as said before, you should get the correct tool for the job. The bright side is now you have justification for another purchase. Dont look a gift horse in the mouth :)

wow, nice to know that there are police out there to make sure they silence folks who do not subscribe to the mall ninja koolaid.........

isn't that nice.........so sorry to have a different opinion that isn't the majority here....I forgot this is a democracy and not a republic.......

whatever.....show up at the gun clubs I shoot clays at with a mall ninja special and you will be asked to leave and take it to the indoor range where it is more apropos.........................

I will show you a shot gun pushing 2000 feet per second with a .73 caliber bullet made of unareodyamic properties. Dont give me that bull that shotguns belong JUST in the pistol territory, we can do just as well at the rifle side.

Look, one ounce, I'm not even directly saying you're wrong concerning using a tacticool gun on a trap range.
I'm just saying that you're being very rude.

And, to be honest, I wouldn't want to go to a gun club where people would rather be smug and pat each other on the back than try teach someone who doesn't know "as much" as they do.

I can see that you have nothing real to add other than cliches and insults, so I'll agree to disagree and leave you be.

Folks,

Name calling and personal insults ARE NOT High Road behavior. If you wish to indulge in such typical Internet conduct, then go find a a forum which tolerates such behavior. This isn't the place for it.

This one's done...
