Picked up a mini companion, not magnum, and been looking at old threads. I have read you can use up to 2 grains of Bullseye, by weight, in place of black powder. Any experience here doing that? I don't want to blow my hand off

Mine's the supercompanion and it's true, though I'm not sure of the charge for the standard issue gun. I do scoop the powder, don't weigh every charge.

I remember when NAA used to advertise the fact that you could run bullseye in the gun. They don't do that anymore and I've heard by net "knowledge" that the BATF threatened to yank the BP status of the gun if they kept it up.

Jaxenro,

Do a search for young THR member Busyhands94. Levi has posted a lot of information about his NAA Companion with various loads including smokeless powder. (I think he specifically mentioned Bullseye a couple of times) He hasn't been posting much lately but you can find his profile and look for his older posts. Love your percussion revolver website--by the way!

Ugh, BATF. Even using smokeless powder they wouldn't be firing 'fixed ammunition' per the definition of a firearm. Ooooh scary, smokeless powder, think of the children...

is anyone interested in converting the magnum companion to accept 22 lr's?

I have a Magnum and shooting a full load of Triple 7 gives me all the velocity I want without the hassle of trying to load minute amounts of Bullseye.

time to front load

Gringo, I was speaking of rimfire ammunition. convert to accept rimfire ammunition.

The little thing already costs more than some 22lr pistols [unlike .44cal C&B revolvers, which have historically cost less than firearms firing similar sized fixed ammunition] and adding on the price of a conversion cylinder [a la' Kirst or Howell (formerly R&D Precision)] that would cost as much or more than the gun itself rapidly becomes a pointless endeavor, as it rapidly prices itself out of an already tiny [both literally & figuratively] market.

I have a NAA super companion. I put 2.4 gr. of Bullseye in it, with 2.4gr this
gun is no TOY. If you don't have the money this gun may not be for you.
If you have money and what a great gun you will love this gun.

On the subject, I have a Super Companion and would enjoy casting for it. Anyone here do that and if so what mold do you use please? Don.

Tallbald I believe you could use a mold for #4 buck to make round ball for it (#4 buck is about .24 the chamber on the naa should be about .23) but as for Minnie bullets no idea
With that said iv only been looking into getting one and haven't tried this my self

Alexander45 thanks. To me, the cast slugs they include with the gun look like plain .22 rimfire slugs. I do like the buckshot thought though. Sure wouldn't want to buy a 5 pound bag of it though. Might be better to scrounge some 12 gauge #4 buck loads and cut them open. Thanks again. Don.

The hard bismuth/lead shot out if a shell mite be a bit hard to seat, I was going more along the line of you saying you wanted to cast for it

it's 2/26/2015 there are tools to convert the super companion to rim fire==5 shot using your existing cylinder

The clerk who sold me my Colt .32 New Pocket swore by his magnum equivalent companion. Fellow had been around some kind of block, all the spooks and fibbies and feds seemed to show him a lot respect, local cops too.

I have an NAA .22 1 5/8" and .22 mag Black Widow. Not sure why I should mess up my supercompanion.

I have been known to cut open one of my 20 gauge 3 buck loads for 20 rounds in the super companion. :D 3 buck works. There are molds made, too, have a bookmark on my other computer.
