Just spent a couple of days in the woods with a freinds North American Arms mini master .22mag, 4" barrel. These little revolvers seem to get a lot of ridicule and bad press. I personally was very impressed with the Mini master. After shooting a lot of crap dumped on the backroads ( water heaters, tires, etc.) I decided to take it to the range. It was accurate and hard hitting. I put a pie plate up at 50 yrds and consistantly hit it firing from resting elbows. I was suprised that .22mag hollow points went clean through both sides of a car tire!!! Anyways... they seem hard to find... anyone got one for sale ?

I have an NAA Black Widow in 22mag that is my daily carry. 22 mag is a very nasty, and very much un-appreciated little round for a deep conceal handgun like the Black Widow. Even more so in the MiniMaster as you get another 2" of barrel to up the velocity a bit.

Winchester solid 40gr SuperX chrono out of my BW at between 1050 and 1100 fps. Accuracy is saucer plate good or better at SD distances (ie, 20' or less). The Winchester round will give 12"+ of penetration in ballistic gel, and I can carry it all day in my right front pocket (in a holster) no matter what I'm wearing and hardly know it's there.

The "perfect" SD weapon? No ... but then there is no such thing. Good enough to deal with 99% of the problems I might run into. Ya, I think so.

I've admired the mini master for quite a while. Neat little guns. I have a normal 1 5/8" .22 mini with a folding holster/grip that goes everywhere. Of course, with the short sight radius and puny sights, it's harder to shoot than the mini master, but it's not as inaccurate as some claim. The mini master might be pretty compact, too, if one could put a holster/grip on it. And, the 4" barrel will get a lot more out of the .22 mag than the short barrel versions.

I'll keep carrying my .38 or my 9x19, but the mini master could be used for self defense. I would NOT want to rely on my little .22 mini for that. It's a fine extra gun, but not a primary. It's weak, it's slow on target, it's hard to shoot, and it's just not a gun I want in a gun fight. The mini master offers far better sights, a long barrel to reference for point shooting and to give which ever .22 round more punch, and would be a lot quicker and easier to shoot well. I'll still take a 158 grain .38+P, though, in a fight over any .22.

I got the short bbl 22 mag, If ya cant hit em, you'll makem deaf fer sure!!
Never saw much expansion with the short bbl one. CCi's jhp's, or the win mag's. The longer bbl is the ticket !!!
