Saw a black widow NAA mini-rev in .17 at gun store. Kinda cool. One version of the mini-master has adjustable sights even. Anyone have one or shot one?

What practical use can it have? We're not talking about a long range varmint gun here. I'd suspect the 22 wmr it replaces would be a better self defence piece.

Aren't those .17 HMR bullets real jackets instead of plating? Wouldn't that and the good tip design make it a better penetrator than the 22WMR?

Woohoo! The perfect concealable back-up revolver for when I need to infiltrate the prarie dog town and terminate their hole-digging, cow-leg-breaking, grass-eating leader with violent expansion and a flat trajectory.

A NAA mini-revolver in .22 mag is one of the few firearms I have bought, owned, and then sold in less than six months.
Concept seemed cool, until I actually shot it.
No, I was not expecting any sort of accuracy at all.
However, I could not make it print on a 24 inch by 24 inch hunk of cardboard while shooting off a rest from only 9 feet.
Nine feet....that's three good steps........and I couldn't reliably hit something bigger than most human torsos. I had equal trouble hitting 2-liter pop bottles on the ground from about 5 feet.
If the bad guy is that close, I think I good solid punch to the face would probably have more immediate effect than a .22 mag launched out of such a short barrel.

The NAA Mini in .17 HMR is the single most pointless, useless handgun I've ever seen.

The NAA mini revolvers were not designed to be shot at distance, any distance, they were designed to be screwed into the perps ear before pulling the trigger.
Hard to miss that way...

Like they say about the NAA Minis: that's not a front sight, that's a locking tab. You shove the gun up the assailant's nose before you pull that trigger.

If those mini-revos really are meant to be fired at contact range wouldn't a mini-bang stick make more sense? (kubaton (sp?) sized maybe). Something that's as much an impact weapon as a firearm. Maybe that's illegal.

Yeah, contact range, with a .22 mag or a .17 HMR.
At contact range, I think a good right hook will do more to stop the attack.
The .22 mag or the .17 HMR would probably kill the attacker, but he would bleed to death about 25 minutes after he clubbed me to death.
But at contact range, give me just about any blunt, heavy object over any sort of small rimfire.

I was thinking about picking up one of the mini revolvers. But not necissarily in .17HMR. I think it would be a nice backup to a backup. Just clip it to the inside of one of my boots.

Definitely a cute gun! I've got a pocket knife I'd have more faith in if push came to shove, but it's definitely cute.

22mag 2" Black Widow is good for 2.5-3" at 20ft SLOW fire. The gun has to be gripped firmly, else it will shoot high and right of the point of aim. It can be accurate...but I wonder about its stopping power (probably on par with 25ACP). It is ungodly loud. 1 1/8" Mini Mag is much less accurate in my hands...
