Hi all, just picked up a cheap North American Arms Mini in .22 short. Having never handled one, maybe I am just being stupid but I can't get the thing to cock correctly. When you pull the hammer all the way back, it doesn't stay there, it just flies forward. What am I doing wrong, or is the thing broke? Thanks!

Sounds like it may either be assembled incorrectly, or the sear step on either the trigger or hammer is broken; either way, take it to a gunsmith and have him take a look at it.

It sounds broken to me. NAA will likely repair it for free, but you still have to ship it to Utah. Any competent gunsmith should be able to repair it, though.

Thanks for the help! I am becoming more sure that there is something wrong with the thing too. Shouldn't have bought it I guess, but oh well. I've never sent a gun in for repairs before. So it looks like I would have to pay for the shipping there and back? The gun is barely worth that much! Thanks again!

NAA promises to fix these for ever as long as you don't take them apart. I suspec they would fix it and get it back to you real quick. UPS local adminisrators. sometimes sets their own rules about shipping from individuals and the one in Waco won't do it at all. Fed Ex Here is trouble free.

The local UPS guy is a gun owner but also a coward and too lazy to learn the actual laws regarding shipment for repairs.
