Dad called me up early this morning to see if I wanted to go with him to try out his new 442. After twisting my arm almost clean off, I agreed.
I didn't have more than 30 minutes so I decided to try out the new NAA Minimag I picked up for myself for my birthday. This has the 1 and 1/8" barrel.
I was not sure what to expect as I have never fired a 22Mag that I know of. The pistol grip only affords me my middle finger and thumb to hold onto it along with my trigger finger. I was thinking it ain't gonna take much at all for this thing to go flying out of my hand. So I pulled the trigger ready for anything.
I was feeding it my carry brand which is CCI Minimag Vs. Well after the first shot I was all smiles. There is almost no recoil at all. I actually laughed a little bit because of my initial trepidation of firing it.
It is definitely a gun that takes getting used to. I love working single action revolvers and this was no different though it is definitely unique. I'd have to say the first few rounds were all over the place. I shot at somewhere between 10'-11' away and couldn't hit anywhere near my intended orange dots. Then I decided to stop worrying about aiming and just point shoot the thing as that is what it is really intended for (IMO). I was getting all the shots within a 10" circle which I was ecstatic about considering how small this gun is.
After a few cylinders of point shooting I went back to see if I could get a little better grouping out of it or at least something respectable. I finally got a pretty nice grouping at 10' with 3 cylinders worth of lead.
All in all, this gun's fit, finish and craftsmanship is beautiful. It's accuracy is definitely acceptable. It's not nor will it ever be my first choice for CCW but for quick trips to the store, the beach or in clothes or settings where I can't carry my #1, it will do just fine and serve it's purpose. Not to mention how much fun it is to shoot the thing. I highly recommend you getting one if you have been on the fence or just wanting one. You won't regret it.

A lot easier to shoot with a "holster grip" installed, trust me. Gives you a full grip on the gun. Accuracy is pretty amazing considering the size of the gun, though. Mine's a .22LR. I'd like to get a mini master sometime.

I regulated my sights pretty well for Fed Lightening and the sights are usable. They're quite rudimentary, of course. I find point shooting it rather hard to do, myself, and try to use the sights. It just doesn't point real natural for me.

wow...I am stunned, excellent grouping. Mine's name is MOB for Minute of Barn.

I can keep it in a 3x5 foot sheet of paper at 7 yards. Well about 80% of them anyhow.

MC,
I'd like to get the holster grip for it. I am amazed at the accuracy. When point shooting it, my grip was FUBAR for sure and every shot hit anywhere from 3 - 7 inches low.
Boomer, this was at 10'. I'd be surprised if I could hit a poster board at 7 yards.

My holster grip. Works great, folds like a lock blade knife. Over 20 years, the frame of the gun shows the scars, only downer to it. Shoots great and carries easily, though.

I seem to recall the holster grip being banned, as it conceals the nature of the firearm.

Am I mistaken?
