Took the nagant out shooting for the first time ever. Man, is this thing a BLAST! Literally and figurativly. The muzzle flash is huge and that rocks. I was able to shoot on target, no groups yet, as im just getting used to the gun, put 3 boxes of wolf through it, recoil was stout but not terrible.

Otherwise, what a great gun, im ordering a scope mount for it tonight, along with a scope, and when they get here, ill mount them both on and take her out shooting again.

But man, no more WOLF Soft points for me, 200 gr, one box of those was enough, ill stick to the 148 FMJ's.

I really love this gun, i dont think i have had this much fun with a bolt action before. And the bayonet adds to the coolness factor.

Im going to add the scope like i said because seeing those dots out at 100 yards, well they kinda dissappear. and the iron sights dont have the level of adjustmant i can get with a scope.

When you do finally shoot for group size try it both with the bayonet extended and retracted. I read awhile ago that they can shoot substantially better w/the bayonet extended (go figure...)

:D

The first few rounds through my Russian M44 were Czech silver tip fodder... spicy enough. After a few boxes of that, I ran through half a box of Wolf 200gr soft points and called it a day. I believe those are loaded a bit stout.

Glad you enjoy your Nagant!

Oh, they'll procreate no matter how vigilant you are.
Soon after buying my M48, it begot the M44. What it shacked up with I haven't a clue, but it must have fallen from the ugly tree without missing a branch as it doesn't resemble its mother any.

Ugly but robust M44 with Yugo M48

Yes, i hear my nagant talking, it wants swedish mauser and a 98k to keep it company, along with a 91/30 and the rest of its russian friends.
