IIRC, the "Short Rifle" model is made for Navy Arms and I think Cimmaron so there is no direct comparison model in the Taurus/Rossi line. Closest would likely be the standard 20" carbine with a round barrel, which would be both slightly lighter and less expensive.
As they are (or at least were) all manufactured by Taurus/Rossi current models should be very closely comparable in build quality. Older "Puma" branded carbines are another matter, especially those old enough to still carry the cheesey medallion on the receiver. QC was spotty on those, and overall quality was markedly inferior to those we see now. FWIW, there were no ss models in that line, but I have seen a few nickled examples.
The Winchester M-92 upon which the Rossi is based is one of the true classic designs. Bull strong, slick, handy, tough and reliable. No matter what particular model you choose, I think you'll be impressed with what a great utility carbine it is.
Taurus products carry a limited lifetime warranty and they have a very strong reputation for doing whatever is necessary to keep their customers satisfied.
