NcStar Brand Accessories

Are they any good? I know that they are much cheaper than most of the competitors and there must be a reason. I can't really afford better quality accessories for the next couple of months...

I was looking at putting a scope on an AR so that I can shoot 200 yards a little more accurately. It's not my SHTF gun, it's just for plinking at the range. Also, I was looking at their flashlight/laser combo to put on the handgun I keep next to the bed at night.

Should I just wait and save up, or are they good enough to get me by until I decide to get something a little better?

a buddy of mine got their bipod just because it was 10 bucks and it allowed him to qualify for free shipping which actually saved him money lol.

its a POS it wiggles even when clamped down. one of the legs locks when it reaches the end but the other just falls out.

I have 3 or 4 accessories and have had no problems. Mostly stripper clips, and other non expensive items. I did try a scope mount for my M1A that was a copy of the 3 point Springfield mount, but $100.00 cheaper. (and apx $200.00 cheaper than a Smith) I know it's supposed to be garbage, but I used some lock tight on the screws and spent an hour with a file, but it's held 0 for about 400 rounds with no problems. If the accessory can't hurt you or the gun if it fails, I say go for it. Not everyone can afford the expensive alternatives.

I bought a cheap NcStar scope for my AR-15 (in anticipation for the Coyote Special which had yet to be released). It's accurate and clean, however, the field of view is **** and the light transmission is poor.

I do however shoot out to 400yds with Sub 1MOA groups consistently.

I got one of their pistol scopes mounted on a Gibbs .308 Extreme Quest, on a forward Scout Mount. I bought it about two years ago because I was sick of replaceing more expensive long eye relief scopes that died from the wicked recoil of the light weight little carbine.I figured if it died,I wasn't out that much,so what the heck....but it refuses to die.Cost me all of sixty bucks.Go figure.

Bought a half a dozen lasers from them and they all work well. I will do it again in a heartbeet. Btw put one on my 45 cal MAC 10 and beat it silly with the only problem being the battery cover will unscrew and shut off the dot after a couple or so 30 rnd MAG's on occasion.

I have NC Star scopes on three rifles with no issues. One is a pistol scope mounted scout style on a Mosin Nagant. Haven't shook it apart yet.
I'd rank them a step or two above BSA stuff.

Worthless crap, IMHO. In fact, this reminds me of my last range trip. A friend of mine had an NCstar scope mounted on his AR-15. He chased his zero all day long.

You can get a 3-9x conventional scope from any number of makers for fairly affordable prices...

I can't comment on their optics, but I have one of their weapon lights, and it's worked flawlessly so far.

I bought their red dot sight for my Rem 870 when I was going through a tacticool phase (I'm long since recovered, no worries, it's not contagious).

After 20 rounds of buckshot the whole front end of it actually just fell off. Threads were totally stripped.

Edit to add- Keep in mind that this was with the recoil of a 12ga, and comparing the .223 to a 12ga, your NCstar scope might last forever on a poodleshooter. But, based on my experience, I just can't recommend them in good conscience.

I've got an NC Star red dot mounted on my S&W 686 .357 Magnum revolver. Works great. Good dot. Has held zero since I put it on there for the last 5 years.

On the other hand I mounted the same model on a Taurus Raging Bull in .44 Magnum. Lasted for about 15 rounds before the dot floated away never to be seen again.

Roll the dice and take your chances. For what you pay for NC Star you won't be taking much of a chance.

Price is a pretty good indicator of value in most cases, especially in optics. There are no bargains when it comes to quality glass, coatings, and bodies. These take time and money to do it right, and that costs $$$.

I can only comment on their soft gun cases and they are GREAT! A 40' case is hard to find for a lever action .30-30. I bought a NcStar I saw on EBAY and I love it. Thick padding, strong zipper, utility pocked and under $30. I want one for all my rifles now. Optics is one of the few items where you get exactly what you pay for. That being said, don't waste your money on crap.

I think that NCStar is inconsistent, some stuff works well and lasts, and other stuff craps out. You take your chance.

One of my Glocks wears an NcStar tactical light. Perfect fit, looks sharp, excellent performance, and the price was right. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

I bought a NcStar scope recently to qualify for free shipping. That made the scope cost only $13. It went on a .22 rimfire. It's clear and bright and has given no problems after several hundred rounds. The only thing I have noticed is the cross hairs are a little coarse for my taste. I would buy a higher quality scope for any gun with some recoil.

I went out and bought the tac light for my Glock 22 (.40S&W) and a scope for an AR. I must admit - they aren't that bad.


Once I zeroed the scope, I shot about 300 rounds of 5.56 through it and had no problems. Even banged on it a little to try and see if normal carrying and handling would effect the scope. Its actually pretty durable. And really, if it breaks, I can buy 3 more for the price of the "quality" one. It has the ability to display red or green cross hairs, or you can turn them off for the basic scope. The field of view isn't the best, I must admit, but honestly, I cant complain about it either.

STR642G (6x42 with Rangefinder) paid $85

The Flashlight and Laser combo is about the same. I had no problems after shooting. Everything was still tight and worked like it was new. The light is really bright. 120 lumens, and the beam is big enough to light up the room if need be. The laser can be seen clearly from clear across the largest room with or without the light on, day or night, on dark or light surfaces.

As I mentioned in the OP, the scope is just going on the fun AR. And the flashlight/laser is something that I don't take to the range. It stays by my bed. If they take the gun after I have to use it, they're going to take the light too. Why waste your money on something you may not get back in working condition. its not like a different light is going to effect your shooting ability.

At the end of the day, Im happy with the purchase.
