I just finished dressing up my Ruger 10/22. It's now inside a Archangel Marauder frame, and it looks every bit the part of a mean battle rifle.

I'd like to put a red dot scope on it, that has some magnification. My eyes ain't what they used to be and the magnification should help. I've been looking at various red dot scopes, and the "good stuff" is out of my price range.

What does look good and seems to meet my needs is the NcStar STM2732G Mark III. This is a 2-7x 32mm red dot scope with dual illumination, Mil-Dot reticle and a quick release Weaver/Picatinny rail adapter.

I'd like some feedback from those that have used these. Mind you I don't plan on putting this on a high-power rifle, just the .22LR so please keep that in mind.

Thanks

Whatever you do, buy it locally from someplace with a good return policy. NcStar and BSA budget brands don't often end with happy stories. If you buy locally, at least you can get your money back when if/it quits within 30 days.

Try upgrading to a cheap Nikon or Redfield. 2-7x scopes are a good fit for a 10/22, but I wouldn't take an NcStar if it were a gift. Even better, find something higher quality off the used rack at www.SampleList.com

Since they tend to fail, heed the above advice. Keep the receipt and packaging against the day it breaks.

I have had a ncstar on an ar15 .223 for about 10 years and 1,000's of rounds. Payed $10.00 for the scope and was surprised. I have other scopes that I could use or put something different on it, but it's been great for me. I use it out to 150 yards. If you want I could get the model number of the box.

When it come to NcStar, most of the local shops carry only the reflex sights and a few full size scopes.

I have one of their reflex sights already, and it seems to be OK. I've had it on my Buckmark as well as my Walther P22, and it's still working.

What I need is a compact scope with some decent magnification for 50 yard work. I also don't want to spend more than $150 for one. That is why I'm looking at the NcStar model. It meets all my needs. If I could find something better in my price range and with similar specs, even used, I would certainly consider it.

I use an Nc Star 2x7 pistol scope. I was very suspicious of the price, but it was ,honestly,a gift, so I said thanks and mounted it.I use it on a T/C Contender in .223 and have been very pleased with it for the past four years or so.I shoot prairie dogs, and plink with it out to 250 yards, and so far,it has worked much better than I ever expected.

NcStar is really hit and miss. Some will last for years on a .308, but others will break within the first 10 shots on a .22.

OP, have you thought about maybe something like a Vortex Crossfire or SPARC, with a magnifier?
