I am trying to decide what scope to get for my Robinson Arms XCR. Right now I am using a cheap AIMPOINT knock off and it is doing ok and I am using a Tru-Glo 2x Red Dot and it is doing ok, but I want a scope that has a little more magnification about 6 or 7 power but I do not want to lose the ability to use the scope at close targets. I have been looking at the Millet DMS-1 and I really like the reticle and the fact that it can be used with or with out batteries the only problem is I want it to have a little more magnifaction, I have also been looking at two of the NCStar Mark II Tactical Scopes and the look like they are ok but I have had 1 bad scope from them before and I do not know if I will trust them now. The reason I want to have so much magnifaction is I am going to use my XCR as a hunting rifle this fall if the 7.62 x 39 kit is out and I want to be able to recognize the size and gender of my target. If anyone has any suggestions for scopes I would appreciate it. I am looking to spend no more than $ 350 - $ 400 on the scope and the mounts and I hope to get a scope that has magnifaction of either 1-6 or 2-7 power that is illuminated and preferably will operate with or with out batteries. Thanks For Your Help

I have a 4x12 Leupold

with mil-dot reticle on mine which I like just fine. If you are looking for something like that I would look at the Nikon buck master series as well rifleman series from Leupold. Either will fit you your budget abeit without the mil-dot reticle. One of the nicer budget priced scopes that I have used recently is the Weaver 2x10 Classic. At just over $200 I don't think you can go wrong with this scope. It was crystal clear and, if it had fit on my Ruger 77/22, I would have definitely kept it.

I would go with something other than NCStar.

I have one on a 10/22, but would not trust it to anything with more substantial recoil.

The most troubling thing about the scope was the literature that came with it. I am not inspired by multiple typographical errors explaining repeatedly that they find operator error and abuse the likely culprits for their scopes to go belly-up.

If you've spent the $$$ for a Robinson XCR, why wouldn't you put good quality optics on it?

I have yet to see an NCStar optic successfully survive day one of any rifle class I have ever taken. So I would have to question the wisdom of putting one on a high-end rifle like an XCR.

Sightron S2, 1.5-6x42mm - it fits what you're looking for and is well under $250. Fine scope.

Edit: Nevermind, this scope is discontinued. Shame, that...

I think that I am going to be getting a Vortex Viper 2s - 7 with the Versa-Plex or the Vortex Crossfire 2.5 - 10

I was wondering if anyone has used these scopes or any other scopes made by this company

Thank You for your help
