If you had ever shot anything living with a 45 acp you would know stopping power is created by the knockdown power, which is essentially the hydrostatic shock + the energy dump, this creates the real world energy (as opposed to the on paper energy) which transforms to catastrophic trauma waves starting at the point of impact.
I know this because of my high stakes, high security job at a mall where I am under fire daily as part of an elite tactical unit.
Shotties! Using Glock to mean handgun. Aquila to refer to ammunition produced by Aguila (Eagle). Recoil junky. Smokepole, boomstick and any other cute reference to a firearm (including those "short barreled rifle" and "short barreled shotgun" references cooked up solely for use in the NFA). Saturday night specials and other terms which disparage a tool that is affordable.
These are all relatively minor annoyances, but they are my pet peeves.
Don't forget "pew pew". I refuse to acknowledge anyone who refers to firearms as "pew pew".
"better than nothing" - That may be true, but is hardly a lofty goal
"wouldn't want / nobody volunteer to get shot with it" - Duh. I don't want to get shot by a BB, that doesn't make a BB quickly incapacitating.
"nobody notices, or cares" - As related to obvious printing or open carry. You don't know either for sure, only that nobody said anything.
Exactly! The correct usage is Pew! Pew! Pew! Much like the internet's inability to discern between proper use of their, there, and they're.Don't forget "pew pew". I refuse to acknowledge anyone who refers to firearms as "pew pew".
Okay what am I missing? The Single Action Army was a model of pistol right? Is it only a Single Action Army if it's made by Colt?Right here on THR, I heard some guy claim he had a Ruger SAA.
Those are the ones who scare me. You know that guy is one hell of a shot, because he's not chasing anybody.
I had totally forgotten about him. iirc he stopped when he got locked up for gun violations, that could have been more internet rumor too.And who among us in the "old guard" can forget the infamous "tactical wheelbarrow" concept..?
There is really no hydro static" shock with handgun calibers, They do not go fast enough.
I didn't say it. Let the debate continue.
You're confusing Gecko45 with "gunkid" (or a hundred different user names he's come up with over the past two decades). Gecko45 was a legitimate gun shop owner who posted his witty material only in jest.I had totally forgotten about him. iirc he stopped when he got locked up for gun violations, that could have been more internet rumor too.
And who among us in the "old guard" can forget the infamous "tactical wheelbarrow" concept..?
Apparently somebody did the research and he actually went to prison and when he got paroled part of his parole was he can't have anything to do with the internet. He might even be dead now for all I knowI had totally forgotten about him. iirc he stopped when he got locked up for gun violations, that could have been more internet rumor too
Sorry, wish I did but it was a long time ago. Please tell me that exists online somewhere! And that you have a link to it!
That's not hydrostatic shock. That's a pressure wave created by the temporary cavity.I believe in hydrostatic shock. If you shoot a water filled coke can with a 22 lr solid you see less “shock” than if you shoot a water filled coke can with a HP 22 lr. At what point it is devastating to flesh, I do not know.

Yep , that was a loose reference to him. I miss those times on the internet.
I bet many here don’t even know what a “mall ninja” was much less who the term was coined after.
Where do I sign up?Meal Team Six
That's a good one
Is it only a Single Action Army if it's made by Colt?
I don't know if anyone else (other than Colt) ever made a Single Action Army, but I do know Ruger never made one. For a long time, they didn't make their version of a 1911 either. A Ruger Blackhawk, or a Ruger "Super" Blackhawk is a SA (Single Action), not a SAA (Single Action Army). Is that not the same designation as a 1911? Like a Rock Island Armory 1911 is just as much a 1911 as a Ruger 1911 as a Springfield Arms 1911 as a Colt 1911 right?
Of course it does. Just like the sign like this one in front of the local high school stops the students that might bring drugs to school.Gun control stops criminals.
