I started out re-sizing and or fire forming 30.06 brass for my 35Whelen. But after doing so with 50 loads. It did not take long to order some new 35Whelen brass. It was a fun project but costly in the long run. Ruined brass. Split and the dreaded doughnut shape you name it. Being new to the process I ended up with only 37 reloads out of 50 30.06 cases.

That brass that is in that link is over .100" longer than the standard 30-06 case,so if you use those cases they could be trimmed to whatever length you want.Otherwise standard 30-06 cases are a dime-a-dozen, try a bunch of them.

Give member 35Whelen's method and try to fireform some, that method has been done for years with great success .

Maybe get some actual .35 Whelen cases and neck them down to compare, then you can judge for yourself what method works best.

Buy yourself some 35 whelen brass, a can of Imperial Case Sizing Wax and run the brass through your full length sizing die, trim to length and your done. I use to neck down .308 WIN to 7MM-08 all the time using this method with no problems. Same with .300 WIN Mag to .308 Norma Mag. Granted the .308 Norma is the same caliber but the shoulder height was lower. No problems there either. If you find dimples in the case your more than likely using to much lube. A little goes a long way with the Imperial and it wipes of easily.
