Need a barrel for a CVA Mountain Stalker side lock

Need a barrel for a CVA Mountain Stalker side lock. Any suggestions where to start? The gun is a ’96 model. The same year as the inline recalls. Barrel is in terrible shape, and with all of the sites stating that the metal from CVA during this period was pretty weak; I prefer to get a new barrel from a reputable manufacturer. I was given the gun by an elder, who felt that he was giving me something of value. I would not do anything to hurt his feelings… so figured I rather invest in a barrel than to get rid of the thing. Green Mountain has blanks with the twist needed and all. I just do not know enough about it to see if a gun smith can create or come up with a breech plug that would work. Does anyone know? All assistance is greatly appreciated.

I am working on a traditions ky kit. I hope to have pictures up before long to get some feed back.

If CVA doesn't have any replacement barrels then try Deer Creek Outfitters, Waldron, Indiana at 765-525-6181. They bought most of the remaining CVA sidelock parts inventory after CVA stopped making them.

Even if an exact replacement isn't available, Deer Creek may have another CVA barrel with the same diameter that will fit.
If not then keep checking eBay since a lot of used BP guns are sold as parts there, or on the gun auction sites.

I have a .50 Cal CVA Hawken. I whated a .54 Cal barrel, and found everything I needed to turn mine into a .54 Cal. The only thing was that the barrel was sold alone. By the time I bought everything that went on it, I could have payed for a new rifle. And that's what I did. As for you, you have sparked a little something in me. I would like to find a short barrel for my hawken, with a fast twist. Now I will be looking for one. I want to check out green mountion, cause they make real good barrels.

Here is one for $135 -- the entire rifle. You could take the barrel and then part out the rest selling the lock , trigger assembly, and stock separately.

I know this is an old post but I just could not let the last comment go
green mountain barrel blank will work. just buy an octagonal barrel that measures the same across the flats as the mountain stalker barrel. you would have to make the breech plug and tang and weld the tang to the breech plug, you would have to tap the barrel for the breech plug, drill and tap the hole for the drum and make a tenon for the barrel pin then drill and tap two holes to hold the tenon to the barrel.
sounds like a lot of work but there is nothing that cant be done with simple hand tools.
