Would any of you old time reloaders happen to have a Lyman Hand Size Die in 30-06. This was a hand held steel cylinder where you inserted a lubed case and seated it with a hammer or vise and removed it with the supplied steel rod. I called Lyman and it's not longer available. I was given a large quantity of once fired LC match cases that I can not size in my Redding Big Boss using two different makes of sizing dies. I would pay a reasonable amount for someone who has this die and doesn't need it.

Can't size them in a press?

What's up with that?

I have never seen a 30-06 case, or any other case in 50 years that couldn't be re-sized in a normal bench reloading press using standard dies.

They eithe go in and get rezized, or end up looking like an accordian.
But that usually only happens when forming a different smaller caliber out of bigger cases.

RC: I do have a predicament with these cases. I have too many to scrap and I have no idea what rifle these NM cases were fired...beginning to think a 12 ga shotgun. They all have body expansion so great that they they enter the sizing die half way brfore getting stuck. I am using a Redding Big Boss press sturdily mounted on my bench and have both Redding and RCBS FL sizing dies. I also used RCBS liquid lube, Imperial Sizing Wax, and anti seize lubricant. My first stuck case in 45 years of reloading occurred with the Imperial Wax. So if the Big Boss press can't size them, nothing can, with the possible exception of a Lyman hand size die and my machinist vise. Your thoughts kind sir?

Something is seriously wrong here. That brass should resize easily with ANY type of press. Almost sounds like this brass was used to resize to another cartridge. Have you taken measurements of the brass?

Don:
These were once fired LC match brass. For some strange reason the case's body expanded so much that it will not enter the die but half way. This brass has not been fire formed into another caliber and it still has the original military primer in it. I just womder if it was fired in a '06 MG or BAR with a very loose chamber.
