Need a New Holster and Want Your Opinion

I am having a heck of a time trying to figure out the type of holster I need, so any help would be appreciated!!

This holster is for an HK USP 45 Full size, and need to be OOB strong side. I am not sure whether to go with a regular belt holster, pancake belt holster, or a paddle holster (or anything else you think might work for me). Even if you are not familiar with holsters for the USP, I would appreciate your opinions on the basic types of OOB carry.

• It needs to hold the butt of the gun as close as possible to my body so that it doesnt print as easily
  [*]It needs to be very well secured so that it doesnt come with the gun when I draw so it needs belt loops or some kind of securing system if its a paddle
  [*]It needs to ride high enough to clear a concealed kevlar vest so nothing with a low drop.

Can anyone give me any tips or pointers?? This is the first double stack I will be carrying concealed in quite some time. I am used to IWB with a 1911, but this needs to be OOB, and as concealable as possible considering the size of the weapon. I have to use this weapon for some of the work I will be doing and I will either be carrying it in a shoulder holster, a tactical rig, or concealed OOB. I have the tactical rig and shoulder holster taken care of, but the OOB holster is the hardest to choose!

For security I would go with a belt holster over a paddle, if you are working somewhere which requires vests and tactical gear then you want the holster attached to your belt.

That said it truly is up to your preferences as to which one to get, there are a ton of great holsters that will serve you well.

Having gone in harms way armed before I would suggest that you get a belt holster with a thumb break for added retention.

For tactical situations I have a tactical rig, but this would be used for concealed private use or work only, and I occassionaly wear a vest if I am doing work in an area where I feel I need the extra protection but I use a III-A concealed under a suit or blazer and slacks for these occasions. This holster would not be used as a tactical rig, just something that can be concealed under a suit jacket. I prefer something without a thumb break for speed when carrying concealed simply because the weapon is not in the open where someone can plan to snatch it.

So a concealable holster with no thumb break. I was assuming that a pancake holster which has belt loops would help the butt conform to the body more than one of the more traditional belt holsters due to the wider body and more area between belt loops. Am I incorrect with this assumption?

Well....first off your needs for concealment should rule out a belt style or paddle holster. The attachment arrangement pushes the gun away from the body, causing excessing printing right off of the bat.

Stick with a pancake, look for something with the loops as close to the gun as possible as this will cinch it up close to you and keep it there.

Cant and ride ht will be dictated by your chosen carry position........... Look around and see what you like that fits that criteria and your ahead of the game.

I was thinking pancake when I typed belt holster.

There are a zillion pancake holsters on the market that will do exactly what you want.

I make a couple of good pancakes, but here are a couple of great choices of makers that I found inspirational:
