I wanted a new holster for a specific purpose. I wanted one that would provide easy access when seated in a car AND that would be easy on/off. I ordered one (for my SIG 229) from Andrews Leather (www.andrewsleather.com) called the 'carjacker crossdraw'.

Delivery time was longer than I had hoped but their web site had warned of that so I knew that going in. This is an obvious drawback with custom gear.

When it arrived, it was just as advertised. A very nice looking, well built and well finished holster. It fits the firearm very well and retention is adequate and adjustable with a tension screw.

It is easy on/off as a flap goes under the belt, up and over the top of the holster where it snaps in two places. It rides at a 'severe' angle-maybe 30 deg above horizintal-JUST RIGHT to make it easy and quick access when seated and driving.

It is not a top-notch concealment rig. It would require a cover garment and it would need to be worn near 9:00 to conceal rather than10-10:30 where it is most easily accessable. It does not hold the firearm as close to the body as a belt slide or pancake type holster would . I may wear two holsters-this one at crossdraw and a belt slide for better concealment when out of the car (the holster alone conceals much better).

I am very pleased with the holster as it exactly fits the criteria I had set for it. No holster is perfect in all ways or for all situations.

If you need one for in the car carry and quick on/off, give this one a look.

The only issue that I see is that the gun isn't concealed. I doubt a police officer would appreciate seeing that when he comes up to your window after pulling you over. Not to mention other paranoid drivers next to you at a stoplight. Here in Texas, we have to conceal, so we couldn't use it even if we wanted to (unless you cover it with a towel or something.)

There is something called the Safepacker that will allow you to attach it to your seatbelt. Looks like a fanny pack/manpurse but it keeps it concealed. I have one but rarely use it.

I carry it with a "T" shirt and a long tailed overshirt unbuttoned over that. Works just fine in the car and just ok when you get out.
