Hi guys, I need some advice. I have a Type 99 (I believe to be a Type 1) which was taken from it's owner by my late father-in-law during WW2. He got either his bronze or his silver star doing so. He took out the guts of the bolt early on and I've been tasked with adding them back and making the rifle fireable if so desired. The extractor is the only thing left on the bolt. Is there anything I need to know about the parts or are all parts in the bolt interchangeable? This is an early Type 99 with the mum fully in tact of course, so I'd like to keep the parts accurate.
One other question. On a rifle like this, is it acceptable to clean the stock? and if so...with what...I don't want to lose the patina, dents or scratches.
Thanks for any help I can get.
