I want to take my Son out west on a antelope and prairie dog hunt and would like to know if any one can recommend a good honest affordable family oriented guide service.
Would prefer Wyoming but we are open to any western states we will be driving from V.A. and would like to see the sights.
Thanks for any input or advice.

I have hunted in WY 5 or so times in the past 10 years, and went antelope hunting 15 years ago. I don't know that you need a guide unless you want the expertise and are willing to pay for it. What I have been told is that you find a small town and call the hardware store and ask them which ranchers in the area will have hunters out for whatever species you are after. Some ranchers have bunk houses that they rent out for a bit extra and others you will have to stay at a hotel in town. It's a cheaper alternative then the guide, but it takes a bit more work.

I kinda want to make this a trip that we will never forget. I think having a guide with experience in hunting the area and animal would be a great asset. If I was going by my self I would explore the route of finding a farmer and trying to do it on my own but this one is for my son. Well maybe for me when he hit 18 years old I kinda got that gut feeling that we need to do something together as Father and Son one more time. Cant explain the feeling it's just there.

Check out Eastmans hunting journal, look on their web site they may be able to steer you in the right direction for a guide. If you don't see any thing right away on their web site give them a call, they are very helpful people.
