Hey guys I am looking for some input. I am looking at switching to a owb holster for my kahr mk9. My thoughts are as follows, I wonder if I can conceal with just a t-shirt(dark colors), Sholud I go with kydex or leather( is kydex comfortable, will it gouge me, is leather going to soak up too much sweat like my iwb rigs). I'm a big guy (6" 230lbs.) Large aroung the middle(not too much) but enough that I'm wondering if my love-handles are going to push the gun out too much away from my body and therefore causing the gun to print. I'm looking at the Fist high ride Kydex and the Highnoon holsters Sky-high model. Anyone with any experience or input please let me know, I don't want to spend money on both but I really can't decide which way to go! Thanks All

A good pancake type holster where the gun rides low enough to put the grip beneath your 'love handles' near the belt line will make it hide almost as well as an IWB holster. Good luck.

joell33, I'm your height and about ten pounds heavier than you...I'm fighting the love handles, too hahaha...

When I carry on the belt it's most often a full-size 1911 in a leather OWB pancake rig. My holster is a custom job from a local gunleather artist, but I would think it's comparable to most stock or other custom rigs like what you're looking at already.

As stated by critter, with the right OWB rig you can get some very strong concealment. I generally go with an untucked shirt covering my pistol while wearing some sort of undershirt or tshirt between me and the gun. In my case, my holster is something of a high-ride model and I position it at 3 o'clock...and it seems to just disappear.

I hope this helps! :)

Thanks

For the replies. I've been carring iwb but in Texas summer lasts 9 months. Mt Bianchi conceals well but absorbs alot of sweat. I;ve been pondering this for quite a while but looks like a owb high ride might work. I wear only dark colored t-shirts(Dickies, Wal-mart 9.99 for 3xl's) they hit about the bottom of my back pocket so they should be long enough. I imagine an owb would have to be more comfortable and that's why I'm looking. Thanks again and anyone else feel free to share you experiences!!!
